Is it just me, or this is utter sh*t?

It's probably just me. OPM was a seminal classic, but since then Mike's been much more miss than hit, for me.

Yeah I'm a big fan of Mike but everything he's put out since his break has been poor. I wasn't mad on Computers and Blues before that, but his first four albums (OPM in particular) have some great tunes and lyrics.

I'll give the new album a go but I'm not expecting much.

Its better than some of their recent output. Even if its just a remake of Call Me by Blondie

Unfashionable to say so, but I think U2's Atomic City is good! As well as Call Me there's something else in the guitar that's 'influenced by' but can't quite pin it down.

That 'mixtape' he did was his best in years!

Spent the past couple of days catching up on last weeks releases.

King Nuns latest is excellent. Andrew Cushins (supported NGHFB last year) debut also sounding really good. Also repeatedly had the debut from Heavy Lungs (if you like early IDLES you’ll like these) which has woken me up again this morning!

The second Ex-Isles album has been out a week and it's defo one of my 23 highlights. They like more than a bit of Scott Walker and later period Bowie then add some political commentary to it so given the climate of late that equals a rousing doom croon.  Great piano driven pieces with plenty of good sax added for this release. Solid 9/10.

Absolute stack of new releases this week; CMAT, Holly Humberstone, Jamila Woods, Metric, The Drums, The Streets and the boygenius EP.

Not to mention a new song from Brittany Howard which is brilliant.

New Goat album out today, but am hesitant as the last one was pretty poor in places, like an even shitter RHCP.

However, have just got a message from the record shop saying I pre-ordered it, so am lumbered.

    • Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they're advised not to do the fire/fireworks this year, I live in Crickhowell and we've had maybe 10 minutes of rain in total in the past couple of months, there've been a couple of big fires in the area (one peat fire above Blaenavon will be burning underground for quite some time yet) and all eyes will be on GM. Fingers crossed we get a good soaking next week 😁
    • Around £400 this time, possibly slightly over.   Think what you've said sounds about right
    • Glastonbury 2025 general admission tickets cost £378.50 (including 5 booking fee ) plus £10.25 postage . what are the thoughts on next years price ? ...... im going for £395 plus postage so they can say its still under £400 ..... but I think the deposit will be £100 up from £75
    • 100% doing Knebworth, said it for a while.   Celtic, Etihad, Knebworth been signed & sealed for a number of months (I had it confirmed categorically in May). Just a case of when the dates fall, and how many.   Can't remember if I mentioned at the time, though probably not a major secret given that they were seen leaving Abbey Road on the same day - Liam/Squire album two in 2028.    Dunno where that leaves Oasis beyond 2027, though Andy is active with Ride in early 2027, so maybe it will just run alongside Oasis like that, if they carry on.
