I don't disagree that it's tiresome for Neil to keep bringing up that he dislikes GnR every time

its tiresome that you and others invent your own lies.

With the new date there's space to add one more line* before they bugger up the formatting.

*insert Lines n Noses gag here.

I am in awe: your perceptiveness and sense of details are unmatched. You should put it to good use with like, a detailed timeline of interesting GL facts. Or something.

(yes attempt at humour)

So GNR cashing in in the UAE huh? Interestingly I recently read an article about cashing in with corporate/middle east money gigs and apparently the only big ones that always refused are The Cure, Depeche Mode, and Bruce Springsteen. Cue to discussions about Springsteen and ticketmaster, Depeche Mode as headliner, etc etc.

November Rain, Paradise City, Sweet Child all 7-12 mins. Throw in some Slash noodling etc and yeah all those tunes are about 90 mins.

Theyve a few longuns. Coma is well over 10 mins.

Yeah just checked setlist fm - 3 hr set with 26 songs so that seems about right, maybe 1-2 songs short so some covers.

Was considering them as a maybe but 10-12 minutes songs, no thank you!

Its So Easy

Welcome to the Jungle

Mr Brownstone

Rocket Queen

You Could Be Mine

November Rain

Patience

Sweet Child OMine

Dont Cry

Paradise City

Nightrain

Good 90 mins + there of tunes everyone knows. Don't see the issue. Better than standing there politely pretending to like Stormzy.

That would be great….

but but but some people on here don't like them so nobody should and therefore should never be be booked!

This isn't even a personal preference thing, for example with Elton John - I won't be there as it's not my bag but I can completely respect that's a top tier booking. Anyone who considers Guns n' Roses a solid headliner should be clowned on

No I mean an announcement for literally anything else but AM and GNR.

To be fair, though, this is the headliners thread so I only have myself to blame for it being samey. I'm keen for more threads to talk about other things I guess. Love it when the lineup comes out and you literally can't keep up with all the chat.

I don't know enough about either of them or their genres to say whether this is correct. Not gonna pretend to know more than I do.

What I do know is that Simz would smash that slot on the pyramid. 2 fisted, pummelling, smash. She's a boss!

Imagining just opening the set with Gorilla, fireworks going off. Would nail it.

I think you'll find yourself in the minority.

Things being samey isn’t necessarily an issue in itself.

Elton John backing out and being replaced with Biffy Clyro would make this thread less circular for a few days, but it wouldn't mean we get a better festival.

In the meantime the Acts Touring thread is throwing up all sorts of lively candidates. Weyes Blood, Hamish Hawk and Say She She have all seen this guy pop up in recent days

    • We head out in the morning. Couple of nights in New York then up to Boston. Enjoy the games lads and hopefully we get some great football to take our minds off the whole shitshow off the pitch.
    • White Stripes/QotSA at Harewood 2007, Tramlines (and Blue Dot, same weekend) in '23, and Elbow at Jodrell Bank '13.
    • Yeah exactly, the shock moments, group layouts, etc all end up playing out differently once you get into the tournament. However you tweak it, you don't predict shocks.
