I'm not sure if I even know a Lewis Capaldi song... And I don't mind pop music, quite like some of it.

OK, so I obviously googled him after typing that and I do know some songs... One or two I quite like, but they all sound the same, and I find most of them quite boring... Fantastic pipes on the lad though... Not for me however, would be a boring headliner, and I'd be elsewhere.

Cracking voice and a funny guy but yeah, his songs are very samey.

Would go down well in the afternoon / evening but is a very safe and bland headliner

OK now it's just getting weird. That's a lot of money being thrown at someone that hasn't even really been discussed on here?

It’s been said before but worth saying again, the market for Glastonbury headliners must be incredibly small. A few tenner bets would be enough to shift the odds considerably.

True, but I think a move from more than 8-1 (can't see exactly as didn't screenshot beyond the first page) into evens for Capaldi who hasn't even been suggested on here, certainly not recently, suggests something somewhere has prompted a fair number of bets.

Edit: especially bearing in mind its a sudden jump in the betting, not a slow move.

If Lewis Capaldi is the level at which is being settled upon for the suitability to headline, I'd much prefer they gave the slot to Lizzo for a multitude of reasons. FWIW, I don't think either are ready (and certainly very unlikely) but as we're discussing the possibility based upon some strange betting data, it's worth making a comparison

odds worth betting on, the odds are so bad for the others they're not worth the bother.

anyone having a punt, will put their money where it'd be worthwhile winning.

Yep the main one being she's at least a million times better than him.

has anything ruled Beyonce out of the Sat night headline spot? You'd imagine she has a good relationship with the festival after headlining in 2011, it'd be a great balance of headliners with Arctics and Elton, and we know there's a 2023 world tour coming as she auctioned off backstage tickets, and flights to one of the shows.

Odd that she hasn't announced the tour yet already imo, as that auction was 2 months ago. Perhaps there's a festival headline show holding the announcement up... (appreciate most likely wishful thinking)

I'm manifesting this. As you say, we already know she has stuff to announced, I think a return to Glasto after a phenomenal album this year would be just great.

    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
    • Beartooth? Or are they a bit to shouty shouty
    • May   1. Josiah and The Bonnevilles - As Is 2. Kurt Vile - Philadelphia’s Been Good To Me 3. The Coral - 388
    • That would be my dream trio based on bands that have been rumoured
