Elton Vs Fred would be the worst possible clash for me since, well, Kenny Vs Bicep.Ā

Just him up against The Arctic Bloody Monkeys.Ā

Also by Sunday who would be able to do justice to Fred?

i went to see Springsteen, just so i could say he was boring from my experience rather than expectation. Eventually, everyone came around to my view.

After Neil Young the night before he did seem seriously dull. Every song he played sounded identical to the way he plays it at every show on every tour. May as well have popped him on Spotify. NY was the antithesis of that.Ā Ā

Fred Again was absolutely excellent at Brixton this week - every song feels like hit, the live show has amazing visuals, the vocals & footage feels both euphoric and emotional.. it's just such a great tone/vibe. Absolutely perfect for a Glasto moment.

I think Fred will be an incredibly consistent and exciting artist - I don't think he will cross over into the mass mainstream, and I can see him 'peaking' at Other Stage headliner, but I don't think that's because of limitations, just the kind of music he produces.

I reckon this time around, he could do either West Holts or at a push Other Headliner - but I could also see him doing the park this time round, especially with his mate Four Tet doing it this year.

Peaking at Other is pretty impressive for a dance headliner - thats basically the maximum any have ever got at glasto bar basement jaxx's bump up and chems 20+ years ago

Not sure four tet being his mate makes a difference, if your other at a push you can't be park imo - its one of the other.

But I imagine he will do a Fourtet-style thing where he does 3-4 sets across the festival throughout the weekend (of differing styles and at different times/stages), in addition to the live headline slot.

You're fucking kidding yourself.

Maybe Rabbit Hole and something unannounced in SE corner. Couldnt put him in Stonebridge Bar for example cause thats just hopeless overall now.

Stone Bridge needs a complete rethink. Either a much bigger stage or smaller acts, it was dangerously over crowded at times this year.

I reckon Fred might end up in a smaller slot than you would put him in if you were booking the festival today, just owing to the fact that these bookings will have probably been in place quite a while? There have been multiple acts over the years that feel too big for their slot by the time the festival rolls around.Ā

Yeah guess it depends when stuff was put in place, the Boiler Room set video propelled him into the stratosphere and that was the end of July.Ā Still think he'll be WH head though.Ā

Not big enough, too niche, no Keith? Is there anything official re the new album?

Don't get me wrong, I love them. But I don't think they have a broad appeal and losing a frontman usually warrants a bump down, not up, even though I hear (and believe) they are still fantastic live.

They've got the same tunes as when they were booked last time for Other and had to pull out. Good friends of the festival too i thought?

    • Iran firing missiles at Israel blaming Israel's continued breaking of ceasefire agreements with its bombing of Lebanon. Deal with that one Trump you d*ck.
    • Best of all is to get the tram, then call a taxi for very short not-rip-off ride once in the centre.
    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the ā€˜official’ freenow taxi line ( 5 min walk from the main gate). It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.Ā
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo? Ā  I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:Ā  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!Ā  Ā  The xxĀ - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me. Ā
