So TW classic are apparently announcing their second date soon. Ken months ago said this was Paul McCartney… but in the overseas section of the forums people are saying it’s Springsteen.

If they announce and it isn’t Macca, what does this mean for Glasto chances?

I don't think any confirmation out of Glastonbury would affect Macca. He wasn't playing any festival on 2020 if I am not wrong...

I am still in the boat of Billie - Macca - Kenny and if Kenny is out Adele is in.

Aye, still on the Billie McKenny train/boat/vehicle of choice, though slightly waving on the Kenny bit.

Paul was playing TW Classic in 2020 as part of the same tour Glastonbury was on.

The point is that I don't really see Paul as a touring booking, so I don't see any impact if he doesn't confirm TW Classic (or at least this is what I want to think)

Popping in here for an obligatory Swifty nod.

I still believe.

The question now is whether she’d hold Glastonbury above all the other dates it’s become apparent she isn’t doing. Is that possible?

Well, she has a second home in the UK. She has close friends who would sell her the idea of playing. But she has a gold-standard management team who would manage all of her tour dates.

Glastonbury would have to be personal to her to insist on it. I’d like to believe that’s possible. But it would also mean she’d be committing to a singular date that’s inaccessible to her fan base. That strikes me as unlikely.

As much as I would move heaven and earth to have Swift back in 2022 it sounds to me like she’s busy. The re-recordings and her personal life with Joe sound like the priority right now.

It really wouldn’t surprise me if they plan to get married at some point next year and that’s why a summer of touring is off.

Would her fan base really be that irked by her playing a single UK date? She could feasibly do something for a chunk of her fan base as a fairly last minute warm up gig for instance.

I like you would like to think she looks at Glastonbury perhaps above any other festivals. I think the ethos both of the festival itself and Emily's proactive nature to ensuring females have an equal platform / representation on the lineup is likely to resonate.

I don't see how re-recording her back catalogue has an impact on her ability to play live dates as others have mentioned though?

I can’t believe she’d go to the effort of getting her band back together and rehearsing a new show, with a new production, with all the effort and logistics that goes into it, just to play one gig that pays peanuts.

I mean her last 3 big shows were all one off's, the City of Lover concert, Capital Jingle Bell Ball and Amazon Prime Day, definitely not beyond her.

Well damn, sorry if Pitchfork rubbed you the wrong way cause they gave your fave artist one bad review and you dont think what they do for their festival means anything to the landscape.  Theyve been had at least one female headliner since 2015 and had a 50/50 gender split since 2013. Plus a total of 3 occasions of 2 female headliners. So a smaller less meaningful event in your eyes with less resources has been able to do that and Glasto hasnt, so what does that tell you.  But if you need something a bit larger then FYF Fest 2018 had all female headliners. or The Essence Festival which has been around since 1995 and has had all female headliners a few times, but since it caters to african american audiences you probably would not care. But who is counting unless a white festival organizer does it. How about all queer headliners? FYF Fest had that in 2015 until Frank Ocean dropped out.  And have you ever heard of Lilith Fair which was all female artists from top to bottom on their line ups when it was around over 20 years ago? So quit while youre ahead and have respect for the ones that are actually doing it right now and dont have to seek headlines about what theyre doing, they just do it and history will show that they were ahead of everyone else.

🙈🙈🙈😫

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
