I think what would really help the inbuilt fear in society would be if on the 19th July, the news stop publishing daily covid rates, are we going to do this every day for eternity? That to me feels like a natural break and should be time we try to encourage people to focus on other things in life other than covid

I think that does need to be a thing that happens. Probably phase it down to weekdays only, then eventually weekly.

It will be a huge talking point when it happens though. Expect fury about it.

I see Johnson pandered slightly to the entitled Lloyd Webber and his commercial interests. Does this mean we don’t get to see him being arrested?

He is a massive Tory so wouldn't be surprised if he's a donor. Can't risk upsetting him!

I missed that? What bone did he throw?

He was vague but said he wanted to help Webber with his Cinderella production however he could. And then said something about the pilots so would guess he wants to get him on board with those?

I can now book my second dose after 8 weeks for the first time. Any other over 30’s that haven’t been able to do so might want to check theirs again.

I’m tempted to give it a go but worried I’ll end up being offered vaccine centres 40miles away 😂

Glad he left a 2 week contingency clause in there. Some common sense finally.

19th is interesting, its not a "not before date" its lifting the restrictions date (barring any more madness from variants).

I think a few festivals will be asking the question cant we go ahead if the pilot schemes work well? Regardless of the dates of anything. They cant really increase wembley capacity to 50% and not allow festivals like Latitude which is what? approx 40-50k? And outdoors.

a couple announcing they will hold out .... crossing fingers for Beautiful days

The bad news is that I no longer have any use for the PMQs klaxon. The good news is I've just had it repurposed as a Beautiful Days klaxon!

could get a new variant here...a super hard vaccine escape jobby.

The lower the cases are and more we vaccinate the less likely that becomes though.

A new variant emerging domestically was another reason why we need to keep cases low.

    • It was always going to be the cost. stuff like this:
    • Man/Woman/Chainsaw anyone? Still 4-5 secret sets to be filled.   New album out today and Rough Trade friendly.
    • can't edit, but just to add to the above:   i get that the last bit is meant to reinforce the message that they are all horrible people and closing ranks to cover up what has happened and carry on with their lives while poor Celeste is left alone with her trauma...   i get it thematically, i just really hated the way it was on screen and i say that my ending would have made for a better movie.   🙂
    • Sadly, the ticket map below screams rear 5 blocks not on sale or never have been on sale. Especially when you look at the blue blocks with rows of unsold tickets.   And I say all of this as a big fan of Muse.
    • Personally, I don't think there will be any changes to the queuing system in place for the 2025 sale.  GFL will be aware that true bots are a risk, but they may also see large collectives of organised folks running multiple devices, containers or profiles to get an advantage as bots themselves, and then struggle to know where to draw the line without penalising folks who are simply more on the ball than others.   They will also be acutely aware that engineering tech to close those gaps will cost, and therefore eat into the money they are able to pass to the Charities, without passing those costs on to punters in the ticket price, which they will be cautious of doing especially after a 2 year break and the inevitable media coverage that will get.   This may all be naive and overly trusting of me though.....
