I find it amusing for an American to talk about UK media 🙂

Watching CNN and Fox News exposes how no American gets to talk down about other peoples media 🙂  its like having the Guardian and Daily Mail on the TV 🙂

Very little journalistic credibility operating out there.

Whilst Fox is arguably worse than our media I think it plays a different role in the media.

Here you can tell the tories draft policy with the intention to not piss off the tabloids.

There hasn't been an increase in cases though in which case there's no reason to wait and see

It’s looking good so far but this next week is when we would see any increase in cases if there’s going to be one. Although it should be noted that the decline in cases has stalled. So we are still in the position of wait and see. Either way though it’s only 12 days before we can socialise with a group friends again, not long to go!

CNN is a shit show as well.  Just comes from a ultra left narrative.

Neither are balanced or useful.

Think CNN and FOX are different beasts. Yes CNN is left wing but Fox is one of the greatest dangers to democracy but is now being trumped by OANN and Newsmax.

We still have a huge cross section of society unprotected.  While risks decrease every day its still too early to just unlock everything.

Read stuartberts post above.  We still have at risk people waiting to get the antibodies they need etc.

I'm not saying "open up everything" however I fail to see the issue with bringing the Apr 12th rule changes forward.

The indoor sections this opens up are all places which have adapted significantly to be "covid secure" and as far as i'm aware there has been little in the way of evidence to suggest these places played a big part in the spread of the virus?

The outside hospitality & outdoor attractions bit is of minimal risk due to being outside.

Yeah, i would move it to just before Easter personally. Though i guess most places wont be ready to open up last minute anyway

I dont see the point of not having rule of 6 outside now though

Was talking to my family about possibility of going to a pub to eat outside after April 12th. Everything completely booked up near them that weekend. Think it'll be quite a while before I get to a pub regardless!

12 days mate till you can do that, it’ll fly by! You can socialise outside with a friend before then.

Will be interesting to see what comes of the legal action threatened. Hospitality have asked the government to provide evidence that restaurants etc are more dangerous than non essential shops or they are getting sued to buggery. They do have a point, something to keep an eye on.

To win hospitality will have to prove itsel safer. Which isn't really possible. its not the type of trade which makes something safer not. Its the people interaction/contact which carries the risk of passing the infection on.

By the time they have that evidence and it goes to court hospitality will be able to open too. They could sue for lost earnings I suppose.

"Ultra left"? As in, the kind of thing that even Lenin would think was "a bit much" on the leftie scale...?

Sure it is 😆

I think we have to refer to people with expertise in this area who say differently...

Keep in mind the virus doesn't carry a passport showing which shops, supermarkets and restaurants its been too.

The concept it didn't spread in pubs and restaurants is frankly for the birds.

The words "covid secure" were one of the biggest deceptions of the last year. If you're indoors, it's not properly ventilated and you're breathing in the same air as other people, you could catch the virus. No amount of table wiping or hand sanitising is going to stop that.

Yeah I agree. Nothing is ‘COVID secure’, places can be safer with precautions in place but the very nature of an airborne virus means it’ll get into a place somehow.

    • I don't know if they were playing the game of only putting certain seats on sale, but the presale for the Hydro was a battle - usual game of selecting blue seats only for them to have gone by the time you clicked through to checkout.  No standing available at all.  I managed to get two seats eventually, way over to the side.
    • Thom Yorke will be releasing new music this year. Would be amazing to have him (his 2019 Tomorrow's Boxes tour was stellar). Ed O Brien can also play a small set. Could be lovely.   Can see Fontaines DC headlining next year (if Mad Cool doesn't get them). Is Raye edgy enough for this? She's amazing live but maybe not a 'Primavera name'?   Hoping for a return of Run The Jewels (rumored to be working on something new?) Fred Again is a good shout as wel.
    • Other than the very challenging hours of the storm (and PS's terrible mismanagement), I thought weekend was fantastic. Main highlights on Thursday - Blood Orange and Ahadadream>>Bambi>>BenUFO run at Plentitude right after the storm which were all a blast, Friday -  Avalanches DJ set (only played for an hour but could've continued for another two as far as we were concerned), The Cure (amazing show and his expression right at the end of the show which was caught on screen was very special) and on Saturday - Baxter Dury (seen him twice before but he has become a real performer, band was tight too). We accidentelly bumped into him in the VIP area later and he was so humble and modest and generous to us that I completely fell for him) and Smerz (especially the last 3 songs). Also loved BCNR at Parallel62 on Sunday. Crushed to have missed Overmono. Can't wait for next year.
    • well, the attack was in a republican area...
    • huge interpol fan here and saw them a lot but cannot recall they did Primavera Barca the last 3 years?
