Hahaha true to form, that self serving clown gagging to get his dose before the oldies have their second one.

I do agree for what its worth but where Tony Blair is concerned its always worth asking why he pops his gross, hideous, war criminal head above the parapet When he does. The answer is always self interest. I wonder if he’s ever been formally diagnosed a narcissist or a sociopath because thats all he is.

I'm sorry if you assume that I eat red meat and don't necessarily think money or Tony Blair are a bad thing, but if there isn't room here for people who stand against everything you believe in, then what sort of a hippy free-for-all is this?

Why have only 42% of Trusts received the vaccine?

If it's down to administration, this is pathetic.

Literally what could be more pressing? Bring in the army, whatever it takes

Also hearing that a lot of the vaccines aren’t actually being given to frontline workers, but instead are being booked up by NHS bosses who are working from home

Not saying it's his idea but he, rightly or wrongly, has a bigger platform to be heard than almost anyone, so it is relevant that he puts this forward.

I disagree though. The vaccine rollout is going really well for the UK so far and that is one of the things we are doing well along with testing at the moment. On the scientific side of things we are doing very well.

On the political side it’s a shambles. Constant u turns, messing with the public’s mental health. The last thing I would want is something put forward by a politician rather than the vaccine manufacturers themselves to be approved and for us to have a monumental mess up.

I hear you but do think there's a distinction to be made between a current politican (massive vested interests with every word they utter) and a former politician, especially one who runs a non party political foundation.

Keir Starmer speaking to the Samaritans yesterday. Please remember if you need help or to talk then to reach out.

I haven’t been following the rollout strategy so not sure if this is a recent amendment ( @Copperface seems a lot more clued up than most on this) but phase 1 seems to now be the over 65s, I don’t remember seeing the “those aged 50-64 will be offered it later” before? Does that mean their strategy has changed slightly or is it just poorly worded? Assuming that significantly reduces the phase 1 rollout if it is an update?

it's always gone down by age, so I don't think that's any change just a different way of presenting it.

While I don't doubt that some of that is going on, "a lot" is subjective and probably unrealistic - most importantly, there aren't enough "NHS bosses who are working from home" left to have meaningful impact on the numbers.

NHS England has approximately 34,000 people in management roles (compared to over a million clinical and support staff), and quite a few of those management types have been temporarily dragged into roles supporting the front line anyway including the partner of a friend of mine (she's got an underlying issue and so is shitting herself).

Ultimately the main reason not everyone has been offered it yet is that there's still a lot more people need it than vaccine doses available.

You can't fake genuine.

I truly believe Keir Starmer is a good man and wants what’s best for people. I know some don’t trust him and that’s fair enough but for me I believe he wants good in the world. He comes across as genuine for me in those videos.

Yeah I’m probably just reading too much into it, just seems the way they’ve worded it makes it less urgent for under 65s and now no longer part of their phase 1 rollout  - which would make their goal of vaccinating what they now deem vulnerable by Easter easier to reach

I just think there is a sense of panic with the race against this more infectious variant of the virus. I'm not sure what the best answer is, but think we need to trust the scientific consensus.

I've been wondering how to spend all the days I have off between now and the 5th with absolutely naff all to do. This helps answer my question.

And by that I mean re-watching Peep Show in its entirety. Not zooming into Rainbow Rhythms.

My partners mum works in the office at a Dr's.

According to her, they get one vaccine per day allocated to their surgery and they call down their list of people meeting the current criteria for the vaccine. If come the end of the day the vaccine is still left it's being offered up to staff in the surgery as it's better than wasting a vaccine.

The actual vaccine is being administered at some sort of hub surgery.

What a shit, vapid society we are that prefers incompetent and charismatic over competent and dull in our leaders (and whilst he's no Obama, actually I don't think he's dull nor Johnson particularly charismatic).
