It’s grand, it’s hit a plateau and probably won’t drop much further without more stringent lockdown, but we have the lowest number of people in hospital since the end of September. % positive tests has been about 2.5% for a few weeks now, so it seems to be under control.

No one would have any intention on killing Granny, I hope no one thinks that. But it’s about extra transmission vectors, they can’t say this week area go into higher tiers then next week mid 3 households. It goes against their messaging, I can see us looking back as a country and thinking this was a terrible decision.

Yeah I know. I’m saying it’s the one of the main sources of transmission and goes all against their messaging. So whilst they may be cutting other transmissions routes down we are seeing cases rise sharply now as it is so add Christmas on top of that and I fear it’s going to lead to a very difficult situation.

One of my colleagues has moved into the hostel so her housemate can properly isolate for 2 weeks before going to see his 90 year old dad, so being ultra cautious. I think he's the only one going to see him, none of his siblings are

As soon as the EMA approve a vaccine! December 29th is the latest, so first ones should be pretty much straight away as soon as it’s given the ok. Vaccination hubs are organised and massive freezer trucks rolled in a few weeks ago to transport it around the country, so we’re ready to go. Care home residents over 65 first in the queue, then on to frontline healthcare staff (and then 12 more levels of priority). Expectations are that the vaccination of vulnerable groups would be complete by the end of April/Early May, and then through the summer and into Autumn it’ll be the rest of us to make sure we’re ok for winter.

I thought my employers were shit but compared to yours...

We are now contacting people from tier 3 areas before they travel and telling them they can't stay unless exempt so that's something. But that only started this week. Most people are fine, they knew they shouldn't anyway. Have had a few dickheads though. And we have quite a lot of bookings from London so they'll be gone. We are quite strict on only serving drinks with food, and no mixing in the bar though.

I'm off after tomorrow until after Boxing day and considered trying to isolate so I could go and see my mum, but I share a house with colleagues who will be working, so that's not really workable. Decided it's not worth the risk. Thankfully she's got a good friend who lives nearby and they've both been very careful the whole time so they are having Christmas dinner at mum's. Sitting at either end of her 2 metre ish dining table

We have thought long and hard about this, but we are having my Mum come over to spend Christmas with us (Glasgow to Edinburgh).  There is just the two of us and we've had minimum interaction throughout, if anything she has had more than we have. 

I am now cleaning the house top to bottom.  We are making a balanced risk decision.

On a positive note a friend of mine has already had 1st dose of the vaccine ( works in NHS and has elderly father in care home) and another who is highly vulnerable ( cancer) had been told she will get the vaccine in Feb. I think it’s pretty amazing really we have got a vaccine within a year. Am in a low COVID area though ( Dorset) so fingers crossed for 2021!
