I don’t think it’s a problem. Just it’s full of a certain demographic which don’t exactly develop along with the changes of the festival.

They seem to want / demand / expect lineups that look like they are fresh out of 2004. Burying their heads in the sand that the festival has changed a bit in the last 10 years. They don’t really care about anything new or exciting or different.

So their views are less valid than yours?

I don't think that was Matt's point. He's saying that Elbow as a sub is a suggestion from people who haven't kept up with contemporary music and expect the festival to book the same stuff as a decade ago. When really there are so many new, exciting and contemporary acts that could fill the slot.

Elbow to sub is a suggestion from @SomeoneListeningIn and only @SomeoneListeningIn

But even that's a pretty irrelevant point - look at any years lineup and you can find acts in prominent slots that you could write off by putting into that category. Alongside plenty of acts you can't.

That glasto chat place is almost constantly complained about and laughed at on here, feels a bit harsh picking out one person who hasn't even really said anything mean about it.

He's clearly used them as an example of people that want a line up that doesn't exist anymore, like people who think Chemical Brothers could still headline the pyramid.

FWIW I reckon Elbow could still sub, I don't disagree with Matt's reasoning here though.

He says nothing about the validity of their views but is clearly comparing them to what he perceives the festivals views to be. Leave the lad alone for once, eh.

I think Matt has a valid point, but also that Elbow can still sub, so in a way i'm thinking both views are right on this occasion.

Then again, nobody asked or cares what I think.

Totally unrelated but I was really hoping The War On Drugs would be on the circuit this summer, but going to be next one by the looks of it.

Hey! I care about what you think!

I agree - I do think Elbow could absolutely sub. I just don't think they would be top of Emily's wishlist for this year for the reasons mentioned.

Some man.

Do you know if in recent years 3/3 Pyramid subs have came on the first posters?

Tame Impala were a late addition in 2016 weren't they? Subs were all correct and present on the first poster for the last two festivals.

I think they were, Weller subbed The Who in 2015 I think, wasn't he as well as kinda a package to get TW to play last minute, and excusing Libertines for the obvious

Don't say that so casually like you weren't part of the 'is it Radiohead' chat on here for months before the big poster dropped. Oneofus, oneofus, oneofus

There have been a fair few others here, tbf.

After Kendrick being officially announced, I think Elbow subbing on the Sunday is my biggest wish. For the meme.

Exactly how i feel tbh 😁

FWIW, Elbow probs arent Emilys top choice, but they are always a really safe solid backup if negotiations with someone else didnt come together.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
