Despite that though I think I'm still going to see Hopkins. Hope it's not a full clash so can maybe catch the end of these guys or something.

They covered Sabotage?! That could change my mind ?

Although Lauren was playing Jon Hopkins on 6music as I read that and I think that'll still be my choice. Hopefully catch Hot Chip at APE.

Thought they were great last night! Had a lot of fun and it was cool seeing them in such a small venue. Set was quite short but very enjoyable. I liked the new songs (need to give em more of a listen) and I liked the Sabotage cover. It was fun. Bagged a setlist:

The queue last night was painfully slow and long and trying to leave the place was a bloody shambles ... but apart from that it's a top venue.

And while I'm being grumpy, the set could've been a couple of songs longer as it came in at under 1 hour 20 mins (9:20 to 10:40 I made it). It's not as is they don't have the tunes.

Anyhow, here's a couple of piccies ......

Saw the (brilliant) gig in Glasgow on Monday and wrote a review so researched the drummer. It’s Leo Taylor from the band The Invisible, he has played on HC records and toured with them when they first added a live drummer.

According to his instagram he’ll be with them through to at least Blue Dot.

The queue was partly so bad I think because security were insisting on seeing photo ID for everyone, or at least they were when I went in. I didn't have any and had to leave the queue temporarily to search through old emails for a scan I knew I had of my passport. Pretty stupid. They guy swore blind that this was a condition of entry, but it said nothing on my ticket and we didn't have it or Underworld in December,  I'm pretty sure. Buried on the VU website Ts and Cs it says staff "reserve the right to request photographic ID" - if it is a condition of entry they should surely make this clearer before you arrive. Anyway. I love the venue otherwise.

He said that to the guy in front of me too, but then let him in without it anyway.

That's the way London is these days unfortunately.  Almost every single venue checks ID regardless of age.

    • Someone said something along the lines of "the lows were really low but they highs were really high" and I think that sentence sums up my ps experience this year. Thursday was a downer (even though I got to see men I trust, geese, oklou and fcukers), but the weather, the missed shows and the uncertainty (those comms...) made it a bad day. Friday and Saturday on the other hand where rly good, a bunch of amazing shows each day (The Cure one was quite something), that surprise on Saturday...   Will be back next year, hope they get another impressive lineup as this year (quality and quantity wise) and that tickets and  primarily hotels don't get much more expensive.
    • Rosalia Radiohead NIN MGMT Bjork David Byrne   Also Vince Staples' new album is cool. I could see him returning.
    • If we are guessing then I think it's   Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls   Weezer   The All-American Rejects
    • Everyone who was there has said how amazing it was so makes the excitement grow even more.  The XX and actually Kneecap were both very good too.     Roll on 3 weeks time
    • Fallow year merch not for me... I'm not interested in celebrating this occasion - in fact I think it's stupid 🙂    Covid wiped out 2020 and 2021 so we should have another year or two before the fallow, in my opinion.  Probably a bit late to change their minds now though!
