Tour Announcements & Upcoming Gigs

Laura Mvula – critically acclaimed, Mercury nominated latest album, lovely little fanbase – came out publicly this morning to say her spring tour just isn't selling, which is the sort of brutal honesty I wish a lot of artists would admit at the moment.

The past month or so's fuckery both here and in Wales/Scotland is going to have huge knock on effects on people committing to tickets, travel, accommodation for gigs (and theatre) right across the next six months or even longer.

It's difficult to committ I have 4 gigs lined up 2 have been carried over twice since 2020 I still don't know if when things may happen.  For those who have to book accommodation rail etc it's a big commitment to something that may not happen or happen at a time that doesn't suit.

Wolf Alice have rescheduled the tour for...February. on their Instagram stories

Slightly surprised given I was expecting this to be rescheduled after the summer festivals, around the time of their mainland EU dates which I think they said in the same update are likely gonna be in November.

Not surprising though- but also they're nowhere near Wembley sized anymore. Haven't even sold out Liverpool Uni

Or Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, which is a show deferred from their album promo shows last autumn anyway.

Tempted to go tbf. Not least as I also like Black Honey, who are support.

I quite like The Vaccines, Combat Sports was a great album. They’re a band I probably wouldn’t pay to see these days but would happily watch at a festival.

I also thought they smashed the notoriously difficult Other Stage opener slot last time out.

I will watch them again at festivals and also loved Combat Sports. Really don't like the new album though!

Their new one is fantastic i think, very consistent across the album rather than some big hits and then rubbish

Got shafted by the queue system. Will have to try again tomoz. Assume you got let in dead on 10?

Good luck for tomorrow. Laptop and phone ready at 10, constant refreshes as soon as I entered the queue. Managed to get in within 45 seconds or so.

    • Elastica posted last night teasing a return, wonder where they would play if they reformed?
    • I agree but anyone under Rodrigo would be a sub in reality, that day would sell out in under an hour whoever is subbing, in which case Wolf Alice would make a lot of sense   The more unrealistic part of the scenario at this point is Rodrigo headlining
    • All you can say is...     If he couldn't convince nations that really would've benefitted from the short-term hit of an up-front £50mil payment by this time next year, what hope did he have?   Guess we'll now just have to monitor and see if this could derail Infantino's plans to be re-elected FIFA President next year.
    • Spider-Man: Brand New Day   Highlight was a bloke reacting to the post-credit scene by going "Holy f**k it's Tobey Maguire!" despite the scene having no reference to him at all. Which made my close-to-full screening of the film laugh a lot.   Film was pretty good. It was interesting as much as an exploration of the ramifications of the end of No Way Home and being about isolationism and male loneliness, which I thought it actually did quite well. Though I do ponder if I liked it as much as the other 3 Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. Sadie Sink was good tbf, while I also liked Jon Bernthal as Punisher, enough that I might go watch his Disney+ shows.   Seem to have had a Marvel kick recently having also watched Thunderbolts and Shang-Chi, both of which I thought were pretty good.
    • Wolf Alice won't get headliner for Reading either, they will sub if they play, that is where their level has stopped I feel. Both TFG and Skyvip for the big shows this year was just a stretch too far. Every headliner this year is bigger than them too I'd say.   Agree with Capaldi I don't think Yungblud will be at Reading. I would guess Bludfest 3 or Download.
