I also really don’t think, whether you love the record or hate it, that it has much of anything to do with Jack. This record would sound pretty the same whoever produced it - it’s clear this is the direction she wanted to go. I don’t think this has many similarities at all to his other work aside from Lana’s last record, and that’s mainly i think because Lorde has decided to make a Lana style record. I guess I meant messy in terms of the lyrical themes and what it’s trying to convey; though the music does blend all into one. It just doesn’t feel like it’s hitting the mark in any place. Antonoff does have writing and production credits for most of the songs, so I think it’s fair to assume he’s had some influence on the record. Without it tipping into full on sexism. ghostdancer1
Completely zoned out about 15mins into this. Just so dull. Can't even remember most of the songs now that I've finished it, and no desire to bother again.
Hutchmaster
Somewhat annoyingly, the bonus tracks are great. Swap these two in for The Man With The Axe/Dominoes/Big Star/Leader... and it's a better album in my book.

Whew sorry I had no idea Supercut was such a big thing! Replace Magnets with that then. Absolute banger but at this point she’s definitely got enough songs to not be playing other people’s tracks she did a feature on six years ago. Why have people started dropping “bonus tracks” that would be some of the best stuff on the main record? Still baffled why Taylor didn’t end Folklore with The Lakes rather than Hoax. It’s one of the best tracks she’s ever done IMO.

Wonderland and in particular New Romantics were better than most of both Reputation and Lover.

I reckon it'll grow on me more with a couple of listens There's definitely a noticable drop off in the second half of the album. In general though I'm much less positive, first half is nice enough, second half is a non-event.
Matt42
Lorde’s stick was being super relatable. Royals was a super relateable track and melodrama thematically was a maturing / growing up album. This shit isn't relatable at all. I think this is a classic case of an artist deviating too much from why their fans like them.
Rose-Colored Boy
“If you’re looking for a saviour that’s not me” is a fun subversion of Royals. Albeit one that is directly contradicted by the “prettier jesus” line in the title track.

willd255
Downloaded yesterday so have had a couple of listens already and have to say I love it. Discovering new moments on each go. Will inevitably be compared to Melodrama but they're so different there's little point. People complain when artists make stuff too similar to their previous records and then complain when they make something different that they don't like. Second half is slower but definitely grows - I actually think Big Star is one of the highlights
willd255
Will also add - most new material would not work in a Pyramid sub slot. Would go down like a lead balloon. Setlist will definitely need to be adapted from what I imagine the theatre tour will look like
Radiochicken
A crude test when an artist does something a little bit different is to ask yourself: if you heard this from a nobody newcomer, would you still give a shit?

Tartan_Glasto
Listening to Green Light now, man this track just hits different. Take me back to that Friday night in 2017 being part of the crowd while this went off at the end of Lorde's set.

balthazarstarbuck
Given it a listen. Low energy but I quite like it. Glad to be seeing her at the Roundhouse- think the new material will struggle somewhere larger like Ally Pally (and if she subs Pyramid). Mattymooz
Still sad at the lack of Sober in some of those setlists - but if you left it up to me it would be pretty melodrama heavy... Yeah the album is pretty naff imo - where are the hooks?? Lorde what have you done with all the hooks?
