so why's everyone so hooked up on The Cure?

Is it based on any info, or just nerds desperately hoping for it to be true?

I believe the daughter of one of the band members was telling people at Reading that they've been booked for 2019.. or something like that

Macca - from what I've heard of him 'live' on the tele over the last 2-3 years or so I've always thought his voice was shot to buggery.

It is the same as seeing The Roses. Everyone is belting out the tunes around you, so you don't hear the awful singing. Not sure how it will play out on the telly though.

Someone posted on here a few days ago (long time poster I think, decent rep) that his son was talking to one of The Cure's daughters at Reading and she said they're playing Glasto next year.

That Macca info currently leaves me on something like this. Main changes I could make would be Stormzy as Friday headliner instead of The Cure, and The War on Drugs/The Streets as a sub instead of any of the three I've currently got.

It's big as fuck and it's good as fuck. Not much more you could ask for imo.

The Cure / Iggy Pop / Beach Boys

Arctic Monkeys / Stormzy / Dua Lipa

Paul McCartney / Liam Gallagher / George Ezra / Kylie Minogue

I'd snap your hand off for that.

He's obviously not the force of nature he once was, but his voice is in way better shape these days than it was a decade ago.  Anyone not going to see him solely on the basis of the Olympics isn't choosing the wisest path.

Macca’s voice sounded pretty good at the Grand Central show a week or so ago. Sure it’s not Macca from 40 years ago, but a mammoth 25+ song setlist from one of the greatest song writers ever to close the festival? Can’t ask for much more really.

The bottom line is: He’s a f**king Beatle. Why would anyone not want to see him?

Not hugely into The Beatles or Macca (haven't listened enough tbf) but I'll probably see him as it'll be one of my few opportunities to do so (wouldn't pay to go to one of his shows).

Gimme The Cure on Friday and MBV on the Park on Saturday and I'll have had my fill of headliners I really wanna see (don't do a Radiohead/Flips and clash them please Eavii).

Can only really think of Aphex Twin who'd make me miss him but I don't see them booking him to headline Other so I doubt he'll play. Someone like Tame Impala would have my consideration but I'd probably go for Macca because of it maybe being my only chance to see him.

Obviously he's a perfect booking, objectively speaking.

Macca sounds fine. Lost a lot of power. Obviously. He won't be opening with Monkberry Moon Delight or anything. He'll be 77 at Glasto 19. But I saw him in MSG last September and he nailed 3 hours and was doing a can-can across the stage before taking a bow at the end.

In a world of possibilities like the 1975 and Arctic Monkeys, Macca is a godsend.

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
