They're big enough to play stadiums in Manchester but wouldn't even headline the second stage at Glastonbury, and indeed got a fairly small crowd when they played third down on the Other in 2015. Really weird.

Similarly though The Roses are big enough to headline 4 nights at huge outdoor venues in Manchester but in London it's one with the slim possibility of a 2nd 80% sold over a prolonged period.

At least with t'Roses they play the same size venues elsewhere as they do in Manchester, even if they do less nights in London/Glasgow/Dublin etc. And they're headliners at Glastonbury and V and stuff. With Courteeners it's like they're a completely different band outside of Manchester to in. Imagine if any other region treated their 'current big thing' like that. Imagine if The Twang had survived and one day booked to play Villa Park whilst simultaneously struggling to sell academy dates in the rest of the country. It's plainly ridiculous and someone should put a stop to it.

looks like Phil Collins isn't doing festivals after all - phew!

(he's just announced a Royal Albert Hall show for June).

Tbh I'd have been less worried if he had been announced as an IOW exclusive than what could be interpreted as small Glastonbury warm-up gigs.

Phil not playing IOW for sure - judging by his comments to The Sun in January, I wouldn't yet strike him from suspicion, particularly as his dates currently finish the Monday before in Paris.

I'm hoping your Radiohead source is better than the Phil Collins one...

It is. :)

The Phil Collins thing we had an amount of info about - including shows in June - but had to make some presumptions. Those were based within a very solid idea, tho it currently seems like the presumption was wrong. However, it might still prove to be true, we'll have to see.

There's no presumptions with Radiohead, apart from the presumption that the four different bits of info we've had from four different directions are true.

Probably not Glastonbury for Phil Collins then:

Rock veteran Phil Collins is coming out of retirement after 10 years with dates in London, Paris and Cologne.

The star, whose hits include In The Air Tonight and Against All Odds, will play a five-night residency at London's Royal Albert Hall next June.

That will be followed by similar five-night stints in Paris and Cologne
