Radiohead touring in 2016

I think it's as good as (if not better than) In Rainbows, but only if you took Reckoner off the album.

This! Most accurate assessment of the record I've seen so far (in my opinion of course).

ok, i'll admit that this has grown on me a lot already after a third listen. perhaps yesterday's hangover didn't help matters.

I can see it being a mix of a lot of things. Thoms seperation from his partner though seems to be the most significant. Theres an added darkness to "Dont Leave" that doesnt exist in the older live version. I think its perfect personally. I was never attached emotionally to the live version but this studio version is overwhelmingly beautiful and haunting.

There is also the talk that this could be their swansong album. As much as it hurts to even comprehend that, if it does come to fruition, i dont think they could have signed off with a more perfect song.

I think it's safe to say it'll be considered amongst OKC, Kid A and In Rainbows as opposed the Bends, HTTT and Amnesiac.

Time will tell on whether or not it'll shore up fourth place or start breaking into people's top 3s.

I'd say at this early stage it's at least their fourth best album.

That all seems plausible. I just quite liked the somewhat mythical status it had achieved, and the thrill it gave people on the rare occasions they actually played it live.

But I still really like this version.

So I've basically been up all night (and, err... morning) doing my final essay for Uni. Handed it in 5 mins before the deadline and am now rewarding myself with this. Cannot wait. 

Have we figured out why the tracklisting is actually in alphabetical order?

my best guess is that they ordered the tracks and realised that, for the most part, they were in alphabetical order, and so just decided to run with it. probably changed the name of Silent Spring to The Numbers so that it would come before Present Tense, and possibly even named some tracks to fit accordingly

They actually didn't play it that rarely, Thom would quite often use it to preface EEIRP and would play most of the song on piano. Probably more similar to the album version than the IMBW version...

Yeah that makes sense, and was sorta what I was thinking. Was hoping for a whacky conspiracy theory, mind  

Anyway, cool album. I agree about it placing around 4th at the moment, will probably grow into it over time. Ful Stop is amazing.

damn was hoping one wouldn't be Spectre even though that seemed like an obvious one. B Word though... not sure i've heard of that one before so should be interesting

I can't see Radiohead splitting up at the moment, they seem to take fairly long breaks between albums anyway to pursue their solo careers and unless they feel they can't produce anymore music under the Radiohead name or they have a massive fallout, I just don't see them putting an end to Radiohead.

Although when the day comes, I think they'll be a rare example of a band who mean it when they say it's over, God that's a sad thought!

I don't think it's about the arrangement, I think it mostly just fits the theme. And the breakup too, it works perfectly there. I can't see it fitting in TKOL, IR or HTTT.

I was never a huge fan of the acoustic version, always seemed a placeholder to me. I love the new version a lot more. It sounds great. Also it's Thom's best vocal performance of the album.

Aaah this is a masterpiece!! I wasn't lucky enough to be sniffing around on here when the roundhouse tickets were put back up, what's the chances that more will become available? I need to see The Numbers live, badly..

I really hope they rock up on a random stage unannounced at like 2am or something because to see a secret show like that with these new songs would be absolutely sublime. I'm thinking of an intimate Ful Stop with lights inside a dark tent.... It'd be something else. I just hope that I find out about wherever they play first because there is no way I am missing them after this album, whether it'll be a big set on the pyramid or a small intimate one somewhere else.
