  1. So what's so bad about the venue? As someone who's at least partially considering going...
  2. Tom Waits is the best one, though can't blame the festival for that one, dude doesn't play anywhere. Wonder what kind of spot he would do? Legends spot? Part of me thinks he should be high as possible being, you know, Tom f**king Waits and a strong contender for the best musician in human history (at least for me). But on the other hand, he notoriously doesn't have any hits or singalongs (and the few he does have - mostly because other artists covered them - he never plays), and this will surely be the weirdest and most experimental legend slot ever lol.
  3. Chances of Elton John? lol (I know it's zero but man, this was some glorious sh*t).
  4. Circle of Life -> Can You Feel the Love Tonight potentially. Though as you said, it's not often he plays the Lion King stuff, but maybe for a show like that... Anyway, that was absolutely phenomenal either way.
  5. Might just be a 10 minute Rocket Man I'm cool with that lol
  6. yeah that would be my pick. Also +1 for Neil being up there with the best ever headliners
  7. So is he finishing a bit early? could fit one more tune in Maybe Can You Feel the Love Tonight
  8. That was his usual tour setlist at the time. He just started exploring his back catalog a bit more as time went on, I guess.
  9. Really how come they couldn't get Dua Lipa in there. No way she refused it
  10. McCartney could have had the most ridiculous setlist of all time if he went full Beatles (+chosen Wings hits). But I totally understands why he wants his whole career to be represented. Elton is really determined to make the biggest hit fest possible.
  11. Crocodile into Saturday into I'm Still Standing is just ridiculous wtf
  12. Macca was amazing and this is also amazing
  13. Crowd taking some notes from Alex Turner by singing Crocodile Rock chorus much slower than the band
  14. Imagine them just busting out a random mid-set Mr. Brightside after this better than the tik tok song for sure
  15. I thought Tiny Dancer but this one is gone too now Possibly Rocket Man or lion king things anyway I'll stop speculating and just enjoy myself
  16. Your Song into Candle in the wind is proper madness, and we're barely halfway through
  17. Both Your Song and Yellow Brick Road out early, thought both would be strong contender for set closer. Wonder what it's going to be then...
  18. Elton sounds great, no idea what you're on about. Phenomenal so far, and so many big tunes still to come.
  19. I really don't understand this "demand", not only you want three world-class size headliners (which is fair), but you want them to find artists that don't play anywhere else? Or to make a special show for glastonbury? This is just... unrealistic, and kinda entitled. And when has it ever happened? Blur, one of the most revered headline shows, literally played the exact same set (plus an extra song) in Hyde Park 4 days later. McCartney, Radiohead (yeah in 1997 too), Springsteen, many other favorites were all in the middle of a tour and largely played the same show. Maybe a guest or so. Yeah Glastonbury is big, but expecting a headline act to make a specific tour just for it? That's a bit much. Even for your other choices - Springsteen didn't do a festival since 2014, but when he did he would just play his usual show, as he would've done this year. Maybe one or two "special" songs but you know in Glastonbury everyone would just wait for the hits, which he plays every night anyway. Miley doesn't even tour - do you expect her to put together a special show, band, rehearsals, stage design, etc just for one Glastonbury show, which doesn't even pay that much? I'm sure she'll be flattered but that is unlikely. She'll play when she's on tour, like everyone else. Elton John playing his last UK show ever, and bringing up 4 special guests - that's about as unique as you're going to get. And that's not enough for you?
  20. OK, a disclaimer: I don't like Arctic Monkeys, I've seen them on the AM tour and was bored to death, I think they're one of the most overrated bands alive. I also didn't watch their Glastonbury set, live or on TV. That being said, going off the setlist only I really don't see the complaints about "not playing enough classics"? Literally each one of their top 10 Spotify songs were played. Playing 4 tunes from their newest record is the pretty standard amount. They only played 1 tune each from "Tranquility" and "Suck it", which people don't like, and they are both the most popular songs from those. I mean, I guess they could have had "When the Sun Goes Down" in there, but it's also silly to expect them to play a set based on their first album when they were teenagers. Maybe it didn't go down well in person, but setlist seems pretty fine to me.
  21. The PJ Harvey discussion was stupid and there was really no need to bring her back. She's absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, early headline material and I can't really see even the slightest argument otherwise. Not to mention, previous arguments "against" her (by emmanuel) were one of the most misleading, in-bad-faith and just flat out factually wrong arguments i've ever seen here. it's all just immensely disrespectful for her really. Yeah, she won't headline Werchter or those kind of festivals (even at her peak, she never had the hits), but for Primavera it's an absolute shoe-in. I can somehow see her doing Auditori if it was her choice - like she's choosing smaller venues in her own tour - in which case she'll likely to be the biggest auditori show ever in the festival. If not, it's Mordor for sure.
  22. Yeah definitely, Pulp were much bigger than Pavement ever was, while also being critics darling (especially over the years) and having enough "indie cred". None of Pavement tunes are anywhere near as big as "Common People" and "Disco 2000". As for MBV, predicting them is a bit of a meme until they actually announce they're doing something...
  23. Sorry but this is a bullshit argument and not really fair... PJ plays small venues because she wants and chooses (!!!!!!) to, not because she "can't" do any bigger. Same reason she takes so much time between records, rarely tours, and make very unusual music - because she's not about maximising profits but about doing what she wants. Basically, because she's awesome, and she wants her fans to have the best experience, so she plays more intimate settings. Using it as an argument against her like she "can only sell 2000 tickets" is honestly infuriating and arguing in bad faith. And even factually, you're wrong. PJ plays two Manchester shows in a row (2000 each) and 2 Roundhouse in a row (3000 each) and sold out all of them - this adds up to 10000 people. When Pavement played London they did 4 roundhouses which is very similar size (also on spotify, they're on 1.7 vs her 1.4). And they were pretty great headliners! Your kind of thinking is very Coachella-like (where PJ would never headline), but this is a different festival. There's more to it than numbers. PJ is.a legend and Primavera fans appreciate legends. Her previous headline show was a huge success (despite being focused on a weak album by her standard). She hasn't toured since 2017 - making her show a "comeback" exactly like Blur. If she comes, she'll play the New Order/Beck spot - a major, full length early headliner spot in Mordor, most likely followed by a more commercial headliner. Anything less would be completely disrespectful.
  24. This is becoming a bit of an abusive wife syndrome, "maybe this time he will change". No, f**k this guy, I get he has a few great records but he just can't keep getting away with it. He either don't have what it takes mentally to headline such a festival, or he completely doesn't give a f**k about his audience - neither are good. I would never take the risk if I was PS. Lots of random names in this thread. Would love a Funeral show, personally. Wonder if anybody got Depeche Mode right last year? that was a surprising booking. Might be a minority here but I would love Morrissey. His solo career is super solid and if he puts 4-5 Smiths bangers in there it could be an all timer. Sure, he's a prick, but hey if people are touting Travis Scott who literally got 10 people killed less than two years ago, than I don't see how you can rule out Morrissey...
  25. PJ Harvey has no radio hits but she has like 4-5 records that are definitely "enduring classics". Rid of Me, Bring You My Love, Stories from the City and Let England Shake are all definitely enduring classic records.
