Identikit sounds just like an Alt-J song, especially the 'broken hearts make it rain' part at 2.30

That won't be a popular opinion on here :P

I can definitely see where you're coming from though.

Ps. Alt-J are good

Well it's more of a 'alt-J sound a bit like Radiohead sometimes' kinda thing. I bet they're as big Radiohead nerds as we are.

Haha yeah I wasn't sure how to word it without being controversial, it's just the part i mentioned at 2.30, Thom's vocals sound just like the singers from Alt-J imo

After 24 hours to digest it, what are everyone's thoughts on True Love Waits?

I think it's absolutely stunning, and quite possibly my favourite album closer of all time. That bit where Thom's voice cracks a little is just sheer perfection. I'm glad they decided to record it now since this record is so haunting and dripping with emotion, so why not end it with the most emotional song they have ever written? I think it would have felt out of place on their other records.

Easily stands out as the one of the 4 best songs on the album (with Numbers, Present Tense and Decks Dark imo)

as somebody who never really hyped over the original live version as many seemed to i absolutely love it, and like you say, it seems very fitting to end this album on (which has Thom's breakup all over it). looking forward to seeing it played live in this arrangement (i'm assuming they'll play it on this upcoming tour)

I definitely wasn't sure at first. I thought on the first few listens it felt like it was a 20 year old song in amongst a more contemporary album, which I know it is, but I definitely thought it was noticeable. However it is growing on me, it's a beautiful song. I'm not 100% it could not have been better served as a b-side like SPECTRE, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for the moment.

I'm genuinely in awe at how perfect this album is. I've listened to it so many times already in different locations, with and without headphones and each time I'm finding and feeling something new from it.

The fact that a band more than 30 years after their formation can create such a mesmerising work of art is incredible.

After probably around 8 listens it's safe to say I'm really enjoying the album, only song I don't really enjoy from the album is Tinker Tailor. Identikit, Daydreaming, Ful Stop and Decks Darks are probably my favourites for sure! The album just fits my current mood perfectly, I definitely need a Radiohead detox though as they're all I have been listening to for the last couple of weeks!

So I'm loving the new album.

The only tracks I can't get into are Desert Island Discs & Tinker Tailor.

Can't wait to hear it live at the Roundhouse, particularly Identikit & The Numbers....in fact all of it!

I wasn't massively convinced by tinker tailor as well at first - but as usual with radiohead on any particular listen something new will hit me. The outro to that song is fantastic. Really loving the album. Can't wait for the roundhouse.

really hoping for another "basement" also for this one....

I just listened again in isolation and the outro just got me too - will be amazing live!

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
