Maybe not 1% but theres still a lot of normal people there.

Plenty of festivals are covered in corporate stuff, glastonbury is the exception more than anything as far as major fests go

My point i guess is sure the stuff in that bbc news article is stupid but nobody normal at the festival sees it - its not even within the festival, note how nobody on here even knew about it till now.

Just looked and that Kardashian mansion is 2 hours walk away from the site for example

Sure, Glasto is a bit of an exception, which is why it's so special. But then if I compare to Glasto to even the most commercial festivals, I'm not sure it compares. Reading? Plenty of branding with drinks and some stages...

With the Kim K mansion, it's two hours away, but then 50% of the people stay off site, so that's not too out of the ordinary.

I'm probably massively bias when it comes to Glasto - really think it's unique in terms of how it's built its "corporate" culture, because obv it's still corporate, but chosen a diff path.

Think there's huge differences between the two outside the line-up.

Yikes to that article. We have it so good at Glasto. Every year when festival season rolls around, I'm sure of it more and more.

To me, Coachella feels like capitalism at its worst. And I love how festival folks like to pretend that Burning Man is this anticapitalist oasis with people bartering for water and food, but it seems like such the opposite.  I haven't been, but I've read so many things about how the place is just full of CEOs looking to get laid at the orgy tent, and about how it ends up costing so much money to get there just to basically cosplay anticapitalist.

No festival is perfect, and there are plenty of other festivals that I enjoy. But I can't it ever being better than Glasto.

Yeah I was thinking that - arcadia would be absolutely slammed even against the headliners.

Particularly if against Wiz Kid or LDR who will act as pretty small draws you would think.

Its Saturday.

If calvin was fine they will be.

Yup, Calvin was on post-headliners and, despite being stupidly busy, still managed to go off without a hitch, so I don’t think these three are gonna cause any problems - they’re obviously a big deal, but very much to a certain demographic and not at all the commercial name that Calvin is.

Well that weekend sucked....

I'm sure you're just telling us what you think we want to hear and actually had a great time.  I hope so at least.  If not don't worry - sometimes we can be in the most amazing of places and still not be feeling it.  Don't blame yourself, I'm sure you are not a reflection of the festival itself and you don't diminish by not having an awesome time.

Ah man, sorry to hear that. I know how much you were looking forward to it so it must be very disappointing for you.

Hopefully next year will be better!

Sorry to hear that mate.

I know you were bummed out about security becoming more lenient on beer leaving the designated drinking pens subsequently causing more litter but things will get better

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
