The culture of celebrity makes me fucking sick. Yes they can contribute to society and bring happiness to their fans in whatever area of expertise they are in, but they are just another person who happens to be in the public eye. The majority of them are probably boring as fuck (see Fleetwood above) and paying or queuing to have photos taken, get autographs etc just doesnt compute with me. They are just another person who happens to (possibly) get paid a shit load of money for doing a fraction of the work we will do over our working lives.

They should be paying us to have our photos taken with them as a fucking thank you for putting them there in the first place.

I met Caribou the other week while smashed and being wrecked I said that he's gave me inspiration to do a PhD in Maths and he put on his twitter 'respect to the guy who last night who said I've insprired him to do a Mathematics PhD'.

Now my friends keep bringing it up, I don't even like Maths :( so embarrassing

You're not the only one....

This one's going out to the guys who told me 'Dude, you have no idea how much acid we've taken to your music.'

I feel for you Neil, wasn't even your fault! I imagine that not a lot can be done to retain dignity after that

I wasn't even that fussed about meeting him, but the stage manager was someone I knew who knew I like Talking Heads and he insisted I meet him.

So there I was, thrust forward as his biggest fan. What do you say?

"Hi David, nice to meet you, loved the show".

And off I went again.

Sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere:

Dec. 07 (Sunday Mirror) -- Fleetwood Mac were revealed as the incredible headline act of next year's Isle of Wight Festival - and I'm told they'll pocket a small fortune for it.

The British-American stars were snapped up by festival boss John Giddings for the exclusive performance, after he tempted them away from a rumoured appearance at Glastonbury.

Organisers remain tight-lipped on the fee but industry sources tell me it could be as much as Pounds 2.5million.

A music source told me: "It's a huge fee, but this is a big deal and there was a lot of interest in signing them. It's one of the biggest sums ever paid for a festival headliner - but the organisers know it will be worth every penny."

A festival spokesman this week refused to comment.

'a lot of interest in signing them'? From who?? Glasto is the only other festival that could possibly have wanted to book them, and there's obviously no contest with the fee there, so what was the competition? Their own shows? Fair play to them if they're using supply and demand that is entirely of their own control to dictate terms to Giddings, fuck me.

It has to be said there is something really sad, pathetic and disgusting about charging fees from fans who have bought your albums and paid your royalties over the years. To then continue the money grabbing cos you snorted the proceeds just comes across as vile.

I am under no illusions that most rock bands did much of the same and fuck it I've snorted away some hard earned cash meself but even if I was the biggest FM fan in world (which I'm not, actually glad they're not playing cos couldn't give a fuck) I would give their money grabbing gig a wide berth.

Just the whole circus leaves a bad taste and glad they fucked off somewhere else for the money. Shows character of which there isn't much.

I hate the band and I'm sure that they're only in it for the money, but why pay any notice whatsoever to a 'story' like this?
