Looking at last year i would have seen

Jack White

Caro Emerald

Fatboy Slim

Dolly Parton

Maxi Priest

Alison Moyet

Dexys Midnight Runners

The Wailers

Blondie

Robert Plant

Black Keys

So would have been value for money

Not to criticise, or suggest that we should all be the same but, given your love of AC/DC, and your choices on that list, and your username, I'm gonna guess you're not a young 'un. Your list therefore represents bands that you know well, many of which are not even genuinely still in a creative stage of their careers - i.e. they're trading on past glories - Dolly, Blondie, Alison Moyet, The Wailers.

Is part of the appeal of a festival, especially one as huge as Glastonbury, not to to explore stuff that you don't know already, to broaden your experiences musically, as well as in other ways. Otherwise isn't it just sitting in a field watching bands you liked when you were growing up?

I've been to many festivals. My top 10 must sees at every one will have contained 7-8 bands that I didn't know/knew only in passing before they were announced. My 'homework' into the line-up has then given me the opportunity to find out how utterly amazing they are...

It's about sales though I totally agree with what your saying though, the prodigy are much bigger than the verve, that one still baffles me to this day

Its about sales? Really? Current sales? Overall sales?

And if its about sales how does this exclude the Prodigy? They currently have the number 1 selling album in the UK and I think they may have sold an album or two in their time

There were a few acts that I knew nothing of but only found out about them because of GF`s emerging talent competition. Went and saw them at the JP tent and although it was pretty dead I still love their music.

Cara Emerald was another I knew nothing about too

Nothings happened and until something does our time will be spent arguing over music tastes and anything Matt42 says.

It's a sad fact of this thread unfortunately.

My sanity is disappearing before my eyes.

I think I have managed to upload the image of the Pyramid getting her coat on!

Yey it worked!

Boooooooodiful!

Screw the headliners. This is exciting!

Is that a bit early? (I can't quite remember from previous years)

Not sure, I was sent it by a fellow glasto goer who lives nearby. They did announce they are closing up to the public to start prep. Only 10 weeks to go really! Not long

I'm pretty sure it is. Normally the first sign of action is the first stretches of fence appearing later in the month, I thought.

Last time I went to Glastonbury I barely saw any of the three Pyramid headliners.

I don't want the lineup so I can see who the third headliner is, I want the lineup so I can make my Spotify playlist and start figuring out who I might fall in love with this year.

I anticipate there will be at least 20 acts I want to see. Probably with some horrific clashes. But them's the breaks at a festival like this.

For a brief moment, we went to the sunken lows of 1D!

A brief moment? them cretins have been mentioned numerous times of this thread - more than a few times it was serious suggestions. awful stuff.

the cure however, we've hardly mentioned them. so I'm gonna....The Cure - the Cure should be the 3rd headliner.....

Forgive me if this has been mentioned already, but what about Clapton?

Fits the profile outlined, new album, last tour...

Being saying it for years. Best British guitar player ever never having played the best British festival is a shame. Clapton playing on that new Pyramid sound system would be incredible.

True, but to have a really good time i would want to see at least 10 acts

I just really need to see who is going to be there

You haven't been, fair enough. You could go all weekend and not see any big acts and still have the best weekend of your life.

Great photo of the Pyramid! I remember things on site starting to change in mid-May last year and some were saying even that was a week or two early, so second week of April is definitely ahead of time.

I wonder why. Probably just fits with the schedule of the people who do it but I wonder if there's anything more to it.

Is the fence up yet?

Nope, first timer

Even if i dont like the line up this year i will apply again next year as am pretty sure AC/DC will do it, tour nearly over by then so more time

Mate, take it from me and a heap of other people, don't get obsessed with the lineup. When you get there it really won't be at the top of your list, if it still is then you'll end up sitting in the pyramid field for the 3 days and missing what makes Glastonbury special.

Not criticising you, just putting my 2 pence in, in the Glastonbury spirit.

Hope you have a great festival.

So if the Pyramid is getting dressed already could we read anything into the early dressing?

Do they need to set up the stage early to test if a certain configuration will work?

Could this point to the Sunday headliner doing something big/strange/unusual?

Rodger Waters?? ;)

Tis a stretch of the imagination but thats what the lack of info allows for at the moment.............

Anyone ever done that thing in Times Square where you can get your family/friends to log onto some website & they can see you? Imagine that at Glasto! Imagine that in 'the naughty corner' at 5am!!

Get the periscope app and do exactly this.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
