  2. I think the GA view will be great, I wouldn't worry personally. Golden circle is more likely to yield a better view for most of the show, but given how much she moves around the stage you'll be hard pressed for a bad view anywhere on the floor. Certainly no different to any other gig.

  3. I was lucky, I was towards the back of the Pyramid field photographing an NHS event. A professional photographer said I should stop there and look upwards. He wouldn’t tell me what it was. He knew what he was talking about as he gave the exact time it was happening. He was hoping it was over the Pyramid stage but he missed the shot. So, I offered him the shots I’d managed to get but he only wanted a flight over the stage, not in the direction they came.

  5. Yep, both waiting rooms will open at 2:30pm. Then random assignment of queue position regardless of what time you join the queue. TM will give you a queue #, AXS has a rubbish system with a bar that doesn't make it very clear how far back you are in the queue Good luck!

  6. I looked this up many years ago, as one of my school fire drill's was also treated to a Red Arrows flypast. You can request a flypast and provided they are in the area/there is a justifiable reason for their participation they will usually do it I think. EDIT: Found the application form, for those interested: https://www.raf.mod.uk/documents/word/flypast-request-form-2023/

  7. Creates dream scenario where people say ‘is this wireless fest now?’ because Cardi B has been booked to headline and then proceeds to hint that anybody who would say such a thing is actually racist. Hmm.

  9. When are they going to announce our one final big name?! We're missing Blur, Prodigy, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Aphex Twin - they owe us one more...

  13. Just seen this announced - campsites opening on the Wednesday instead of the Thursday to try & spread out the increased traffic they're anticipating due to the train strikes: Latitude Festival | News | Important: Train strikes planned for Thursday 20th, Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd July

  14. I saw someone else say that golden circle basically gives you the comfort of knowing you have a good view, general standing you will still probably get a good view anyway it's just not as certain I'm fairly sure you'll have a decent view regardless unless you turn up 5 minutes before she comes on stage and end up right at the very back

  15. Probably my most frustrating clash of the whole weekend is Wilco against HMLTD. I've seen Wilco a few times and they always put on a brilliant show, but that latest HMLTD album is one of my favourites of the year. Don't know what to do!

  19. The festival starts four weeks tomorrow, does that mean staging has begun to be erected on the island? Or are we still a little too far out? Any locals visited recently - if so, how's the grass situation looking?

  20. Totally is a bit but that shows you that even the band aknowledge his behaviour but don’t seem to worry about it For sure - and as long as the fans support him festivals will keep booking the 1975 I like their music and I enjoyed their performance last year but on no level would I support who matty is as a person or excuse his behaviour, and I think on the back of these comments they shouldn’t have been booked this year

  22. At Lokkaido on Sensation Seekers'. Wearing santa hats and claws they gave out for the show. All of this seemed perfectly normal at the time..

  23. I heard they released a load of chem trails over the valley in an insidious attempt to stop attendees from leaning so far to the left...

  29. It just says they MAY cancel your tickets if they share a billing address, credit card number or email. Ticketmaster CS on twitter has been saying this repeatedly and I do remember seeing it somewhere on an event page. This is coming from the same source who’s saying you can’t use your code twice tho (when it’s been proven you can). Not sure if they will cancel them or not

  30. The only way I found for seat by seat detail in Murrayfield ahead of Beyonce was to download the Scottish Rugby app and try to buy a ticket for the Autumn Tests in the row / block / seat you have.

  33. Hello squirrelarmy, Thanks for that swathe of useful information. I need all the advise I can get at this early stage. I'm looking into going to night school to learn welding. They do such a thing at a college in Shrewsbury (@ 20 miles away). That 'Strong Hand' clamp looks like it'll be the 'business' alright. My notion is to create a chicken wire sub base of the human form using chicken wire type metal wrapped around a mannequin. Then cut the wire off the mannequin and stitch it back up using metal wire, so that I end up with a mannequin shaped wire structure. I would then use this to create the form for the welded spanners. The 'form' will probably need strengthening though, owing to the weight of the spanners. Not sure, as it's all at a very embryonic stage at the moment. If I go on this college course though, it will catapult me in the right direction. Thanks for the advice once again.

  34. Ha! Impossible to say if they'll make anymore worthwhile music in future, but they're excellent live performers. Did you watch either of em? Thought they were both fantastic, lil nas x especially. Wasn't on our radar at all until we caught some of his glasto set and thought he had to be worth checking out. What a show! Alex Turner could only dream of being that entertaining on stage 😜

  35. They definitely closed the garden stage when Squid played a couple of years ago. So it does happen. I’d be surprised if they closed it for Angel, but I’m not going to risk it, so I’ll be getting there early-ish too.

  36. The Saturday is unbelievable value for money now. 1975 and The Killers. After previously deciding I wouldn’t be going back this year, I bought a ticket instantly when I saw the announcement.

  37. Here you go She really did absolutely crush it. Although still thinking about my friend’s teenage daughter who thought she was introducing ‘Billie Eilish’ onto the stage only for Lily Allen to walk out instead hahaha.

  40. Honestly, I really enjoyed spending all weekend last year in front of the telly, watching all the footage. Sometimes it's better to give in and enjoy other people's joy rather than just bitterly avoid it.

  41. "I don't understand how foreign people can come to Mad Cool, having much better festival experience options all over Europe." I'm Canadian. I went to Mad Cool in 2018 and 2022 (my only European festivals). Other than the line-ups, the main reasons for going to MC were: no need to camping and can stay in hotels at very reasonable prices, nice weather (almost guarantee no raining day or mud on the site), cheap prices for food and drinks (as compare to North America). Based on this, what other festivals would you recommend? I considered in the past Rock Werchter. Thank you.

  43. Since they've announced their UK tour, it's 100% sure Foo Fighters will be there. As they are on tour and have a day-off on Sunday, I see Paramore coming too. I guess they'll bring Stromae back if he health is better. Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish or Rage Against The Machine are acts I'd love to see but that's a lot of headliners. Blink 182 is also a strong possibility. Thursday: Foo Fighters - Greta Van Fleet - Yungblud - Turnstile. Friday: Dua Lipa - Angele - Thirty Seconds To Mars - TBA. Saturday: The Cure - Post Malone - TBA - TBA. Sunday: Blink 182 - Blur - Paramore - Olivia Rodrigo. I ran out of ideas to finish it... I'm aware the Sunday is too much on the same style but with the actual pop-punk revival, we can still hope. We could have Fall Out Boy too as they release a new album and do an arena tour next Fall. Maybe My Chemical Romance will come back finally too. Been a while since Green Day came. Despite her poor shows, Avril Lavigne will maybe surf on the vibe to do festivals again as well.

  44. That was a great gig. I followed it by throwing shapes with my kids, @squirrelarmy, Ed and various others in The Temple until it finally closed and we were all shooed out. The evicted crowd walking down the railway line was like a scene from Night Of The Living Dead.

  45. I haven't been since 2014, my 20th, and have not tried for tickets since. In 2016 I retired from festivals altogether. Reading 1976 was the first and Womad 2016 the last, so after 40 years of festivals it seemed like a good time to call it a day. Sometimes I get the urge, but on the whole I don't regret my decision. My 14 year old dog has also been grateful for the last 7 kennel free years.

  46. After 22 I was ready, if not to bow out altogether, but certainly to strip back my attendance to every other year at best. I figured that year was so good that I could happily step for a few years without too many regrets. And in a way I did... Approached the 23 sale with an attitude of "if I get through brilliant, if not then it's not a disaster" and I was lucky enough to get a ticket. Mrs J and I decided that we would take the kids for the first time and the way they enjoyed it and embraced it all (already posted about this elsewhere so won't get back into it) has relit a fire. We'll be trying for 24 and they are desperate to go again, I'm now fully committed to embracing the new way of doing the festival we had this year. The days of late nights and hard partying are over for me (can't physically or mentally hack them anymore anyway) but I'm excited to spend the next few years experiencing the festival from a whole other perspective and watching my kids grow into it.

  48. Ok so just a little clarity needed around the paragraph relating to me . At no point did I say I would camp outside the Eavis front door … and at no point was there a thread from me begging . However I did ask people for suggestions and ideas how to get to the festival of which one was a Christmas card which I wrote following failure in the October sale . The resale team was setup in Nov by myself and vintagelaureatte and was open to all members of efest right up untill a week or so before the eventual covid delayed sale . I had many offers of help and I really appreciated those , however any help that was offered In the weeks running up to the festival was put into a hat and drawn by myself . My name wasn’t in that hat … it was all the people on the spreadsheet . There was nothing to stop anyone joining us and we actively encouraged people . Through covid times we kept the topic as front and centre as we were able and this helped us generate the help that got us a huge success rate of 98% , through covid things were tough for me like many , I lived on my own in a 1 bed flat and so my active engagement was trying to be as positive as I was able through this very site . If anyone felt that it was all about me I apologise and the members of our spreadsheet would back me up on that , yep I was vocal and headed things . The article at no point contacted any of the people within it to ascertain it’s correctness or not . I’m not perfect and I like to think I help people . Sadly not the author but hopefully whoever it is made it to the festival and had a cracking time . Life’s way to short to be bitter , I’d like to hope they move on just like this site has under its new owner . edit .oh and i left the other site because I much prefer this format .... my discussion with an admin clinched that decision as im not about arguing with people , so thought it best I focus on this site .... oh also efests isn't on its last legs just saying 🙂 thanks Alex
