They’ve said they will refund the whole amount in 5-7 days.

Updated statement on Facebook basically confirms they’ve had their allowance halved and required more overnight (paid) shifts than originally quoted for.

Notice that their statement uses the term "our client" rather than saying "the festival" or GFL.

Wonder if that's just not wanting to point a finger, or whether MyCause are effectively a subcontractor here with someone else having the direct relationship with GFL?

Maybe the requirement for more paid staff hints that what Paul said has been noticed

My Cause accepted my deposit when they opened things use early for people who had done festivals with them on the Wednesday.

Having accepted mine and Mrs Fay's money they emailed us and said I would be put in the pot for Fridays general "sale"

Thought me and Mrs Fay would be in having already an application and deposit. Got an email to say we were not successful and they would refund the money which was very quickly done.

I was hoping that we would be first reserve as application received status on their hub and an option to cancel position.

Looks like any chance with them has now gone.

All in on Oxfam "resale" or no fezzy for me. First time since I started going in 2010.

Not going down the possible Oxfam last min route as we are going to book a weekend out of the country instead and look forward to that.

I was signed up and paid within the first minute of My Cause places opening and got the confirmation of a place quickly on the first day they were confirming, along with my husband. We didn’t try for resale and have arranged a whole complexity of work, family cover and travel stuff, including turning down paid work - we are both self-employed in industries where work is hard to come by. I’ve been off work today so hadn’t seen the email. Instead I read about this on here. I checked my email and I’ve had my place cancelled. Husband’s asleep so I don’t know if he’s had his. My money is on he has. Devastated. Why didn’t they confirm this prior to resale so we could at least give that a bash (unlikely as it was)? A really poor show here from My Cause. We’ve just had a lovely Friday evening, listening to DJ sets together and saying, “8 weeks til Glastonbury Friday.” Has anyone who was signed up with My Cause not had their place cancelled today?

I too am one of those that got the dreaded email from MyCauseUK yesterday... Does anyone know when the Oxfam "resale" is going to be? It's looking like that's going to be my best bet right now.

Not been announced but has been suggested that going on previous years it could be this week.

I feel like the external security guys really can add a bad taste to the atmosphere. I remember one guy getting really irate blocking off the path to green peace, even though you could literally just go through the glade next door to get in.

Imagine if they were placed at the stone circle..

We were discussing Traffic roles, not security, but there are already loads of security working internally, including one of the contractors who do external positions too.

I was chatting to some of the security guys last year, didn't sound like the best working conditions, they werent overly happy

Some of them do 16 hour shifts. It's paid work and they agree to do it, but still.

Yup and a lot of them go out partying using substances that they have confiscated. One of them was found dead at their post from a heart attack only a couple of years ago.
A lot of security sleep deprived and irritable is not a good thing

I randomly met two guys last year with to me almost completely unintelligible accents trying to sell me all kinds of vapes and pills they said they confiscated. They weren't aggressive or rude, but completely off their tits. It was a fun encounter, but I remember thinking "if that's the standard for security here... 😂 "

Without question the best chance, just on the basis that they have one of the larger volunteer recruitments and don't tend to do a "waiting list" type setup - so likely more places to become available, and everyone has a chance to get them even if they didn't try before.

I'd still say to check the spreadseet linked at the start of this thread, and get registered with any waiting lists anyway even if it's unlikely to pan out. After the resale there's always a bit of a shuffle as people get tickets and cancel places so I can't 100% rule out something coming up.

Hi, does anyone have the above spreadsheet/link to spreadsheet to hand please? I've taken a scroll back and can't find it - would really appreciate. Thanks.

My friend had his space cancelled by MyCause and they are refunding £330 instead of £380!!! I can only assume they are keeping the charity donation which considering he lost his place and didn’t volunteer is really really poor. Does anyone know a contact beyond the main hello@ email address please?

Had the same result, which is a bit cheeky!

If it wasn't for a good cause (and the money going to a charity I support anyway), I'd be pretty furious right now.

I am sorry I can't help with an email address for My cause, however I would make Glastonbury Festival aware of both the cancellation of places and the £50 charity donation. The email address for them is [email protected] 😊

    • Pretty much all festivals lose out on major artists because of production limitations though. Glastonbury is no different to most other festivals.  Lots of acts can/will adapt their tour production to suit festival stages if they want to play them, but some acts with stage designs and routines just don't want to adapt, and would rather just stick with a rigid, well-rehearsed production and take the money for their own gigs, whether that's a lot more than playing Glastonbury, or slightly less than playing some other festivals (but with added complications). Trying to adapt the stage, layout, access to b-stages etc to accommodate a single headliner on a Friday and then having to change it all around for a Saturday headliner isn't really a goer when most headliners can just easily adapt their show to stay on a main stage, if they're so inclined. They have a year to figure out how to perform a song on a main stage and ditch a few dance routines out on a b-stage if they really put their mind to it. It's not that difficult......
