Stuck in the dark ages with portaloos instead of compost loos.

Compost loos are now from the dark ages.   Eco-friendly vacuum loos are the new standard these days.

They still recycle the sh*t but in a pleasant way with no sawdust cups required and nothing ghastly to see when you look down!

Just got back from 6 day's volunteering at Green Man and absolutely blown away with it.  Easily on a par with the Glastonbury feel good factor if not better.

The location, the organisation, the beer festival within the festival, swimming in the river, the people, the band's and their positive attitude. Absolutely loved it.

Swimming in the river?

Not sure you went to Green Man, then. To say they discourage that would be a massive understatement.

I've also got some pretty strong opinions on how well organised it is. Won't go on a long rant but I think it falls firmly into the "many bad practices but mostly gets away with them because they have a smaller and fairly nice crowd" category. Which to be fair they're far from the only ones.

Nice buzz killing.  Yes, swimming in the river. On the public land away from the festival site which frankly is F all to do with the organisers and entirely beyond their control.

Have they improved the toilet situation? They’ve always been dreadful. Stuck in the dark ages with portaloos instead of compost loos. Mind it is a bit of a 80’s throwback event so I guess it’s in keeping

Still portaloos but Tbf I didn’t find one that wasn’t immaculate all weekend. I don’t think I even found one without toilet paper!

Just about to start emptying the van as off to Krankenhaus on Wednesday. Buzzing

Good to hear. Am contemplating Green Man or EOTR to volunteer at next year.

Really liked the look of this last couple of years and considering for next year - who did you volunteer with?

WaterAid mate. It's a great one to do but a word of caution for next year as I am a regular volunteer with them with numerous events under the belt and next year will be really competitive for GM due to lack of Glastonbury.

I think stewarding, litter picking and bars seem an easier route in but don't know any organisations to link up here.

I believe that Green Man recruit stewards etc. directly rather than through Oxfam or the like
