@Johnnyseven I think my mate Liam does Glade every year... Although he might be Dome rather than Brew Bar. Where is the Brew Bar? There's so many bars round there! Solstice is workers' beer company and then there's like an in-house Glade bar as well - I took a photo of their t-shirts.

It's just behind the Glade stage, between the stage and the Vodafone recharge place. There was a chap called Liam on some of my shifts, think he has there with his partner who was called Lina I think.

Maybe a stupid question but does volunteer bar work require me to...have experience of working in a bar? Not poured a pint since I was a teenager many moons ago now.

Varies by operator. The smaller operators might, but Avalon (as the biggest public recruiter) won't.

I hadn't pulled a pint since the year 2000 and they gave me a go.

Is anyone else on here doing Wilderness with Oxfam?

I'm over Glasto now, just about... ready for the next adventure! 🙂

So you can join the “great wall of camping chairs” which is generally about 10 deep and stretches about 3/4 of the way across the main arena, making it difficult to get in.

Well if I am not on shift I will be jumping up and down to Frank Turner at BD. 😀

might bring my camping chair for occasional sit downs but will be extra careful not to block anyone in then 😂

Has anyone ever volunteered at Green Man. I know they don't use Oxfam etc and do it all in house. Just thinking about alternatives for the fallow year.

Yes mate. With WaterAid and it is beautiful. Its not my perfect vibe as like Festivals a little more edgy (it's very family buzz) but in many respects, it's really on point.

The location on the river, the beer courtyard, the line up and geography of the site. All great. You can walk into Crickhowell ( great pubs and cafes ), swim in the river and walk up some good trails and tracks around the festival site.

I know they have a pretty good volunteer base for control of entry points etc but not sure about routes in to getting a place

Yes doing Wilderness as my 1st non glasto volunteering festival and looking forward to it.  Been a couple of times as a punter with family and always enjoyed it.

Interested to know if being Oxfam gives you any freedom of movement as I have some friends in live in camping and not sure if I'll be able to access that field.  Also wondering if being Oxfam makes taking your own booze easier.

Been as a punter not as volunteer. Still got that unruined family feel which is nice

Hi @rebus if you've enjoyed it as a punter then you should have a good time with Oxfam.  Some shifts are peachy (lake patrols, arena crowd obs etc) and some are less so (campsite fire towers) but on the whole it's a nice festival to volunteer at. The Oxfield isn't far from the main public campsite.

You'll have a crew wristband so although I've not tried to get into live in campers field since it moved, I think you'll be able to get in fine.  Re booze, you can take whatever into Oxfield but getting it into the arena requires a bit of stealth.  I've always managed to get a water bottle of vodka in hidden on me somewhere!

@rebus @Spacey @buddiepaul @amfy and anyone else going... I don't think many of my usual people are going this year, so if you're at a loose end and fancy a pint or a dance partner for a trip to The Valley then do send me a message!

    • I do agree to a point and I will just not buy tickets for some things now cos I know there’s a good chance I’ll get some cheap.   also think the quality of a lot of the artists around is just quite poor at the moment, either touring albums from 20 years ago or poorly received  albums    then also this trend of doing 7 shows at one location, people are tired of travelling and there’ll always be spares close to the time
