Anyone who has done Oxfam earlies before know what typical sorts of positions / roles are common? Do they cover the whole site as well and not just, say, vehicle gates etc?

It’s mainly vehicle gates / oxfield.   All 3 shifts are usually the same so could get 3 overnights 3 lates or 3 earlies

One of my mates just snagged a spot at a food vendor, hours are 7-3 every day but gets them a ticket!

Do you just need to get a list of every vendor advertising as being there and trying to find some sort of contact details?

if you are up for a paid role - so would involve working every day - send me a DM! I’ve actually just had to pull out of my role for a sudden change in commitments so if you’re sure you can do it, I can pass your details on. Again it’s not volunteering so you would be required to do a shift every day and be available from Monday or Tuesday at the latest!

I'll message you. Potentially, would need more details! Thanks for replying either way!

Ok, so I’m planning on arriving on Tuesday 24th by train/bus to site which arrives at PG A, and where I’ll collect my workers pass. From my understanding, we also need a H & S induction pass when arriving outside the festival dates. Based from the email after completing the induction, it sounds like this can be collected in yellow gate/PG A area aswell. Just a bit confused, because email from recycling crew states we should collect this induction pass at PG B.
( kind of contradicts the other email after completing the induction) Anyone got an idea?

Aaragorn has it right, yellow gate which has the H&S and then entry via red.. - they mentioned it in the Facebook group - you might be able to join there too if you havent already?
I will be also arriving on Tuesday Castle cary, bus to site from there. I hope you have a smooth journey in (Hoping this for myself too!)

If you are arriving at PGA then you need to go to Yellow Gate and collect your H&S wristband before you go to the accreditation cabin to collect your workers wristband.  If you are arriving at Gate B you can collect both at PGB as there is a H&S cabin there aswell.

Thanks for clarifying! I was wondering this too.

So I'm good to arrive at the bus station, collect the H&S pass from yellow gate and then collect my recycling crew accreditation from pedestrian gate A?

That's brilliant, well done!

Call Oxfam and see if there are any spaces left on the Oxfam bus from Bristol.  It's free and drops you by the campsite

The buses do run from Castle Cary on the Tues, but will drop you a LONG way from where you need to be.

Amazing work, well done! My page monitor decided to crash last night so didn't pick this up 😭

Were there any conditions attached e.g. needing to get references/training done by a certain time? Just wondering if there is a very, very small chance that some could go back in the pot?!

Dunno of any conditions, but the places were not for me, so I'm not in that dialogue.  But if they default for timing reasons, the festival will be so close or the shift patterns started that there'd be no time to re-issue.
So in my opinion, this was genuinely the last chance with Oxfam.
Sorry !  (But there's no actual harm in keeping an eye out !?)

Thanks - I think so too, we were working on the basis that if nothing came up today then that would be it, given they'll be onsite and shift patterns sorted as you say. Worth keeping an eye out, but at some point we'll be giving up and leaving the country for a week!

I have no idea if places might still come up but people do drop out right up to the last minute.  They have a reasonable sized team of Response Stewards on shift at any one time to plug any gaps or provide additional cover (sadly sometimes because of absconders), so even if shift patterns are sorted, things can get shuffled right up to gate opening and during the show itself.

I got a place with oxfam on the Friday before the festival in 2019 and the shuttle bus was full.. had to make my own way onsite - ended up getting a Taxi with some water aid volunteers from Castle Cary.

Congrats on the very last min places!
