We're working for the Recycling Crew and have a parking pass for Purple. Coming in a van this year too so interested on info regarding the above.

Have you had your ticket email yet? Wondering when I should chase...

If you're talking about the conformation email for recycling crew then I have not had mine yet but was said yesterday would be in next few days.

Bit of a strange one but me and a few others who luckily got our places with Oxfam last Tuesday still haven't received information regarding training. I think we are all slightly worried with it being over a week now..

I called yesterday and they said this week or next!

The training really deosnt take long to do, i think it was three videos of about twenty mins, and then some roaringly simple questions at the end to get the pass - you could sit in the oxfield and complete it on your mobile, in the worst case scenario of them not having sent it out ahead of time. But im sure they will 👍

I really like the oxfield. It’s got its own cadence and atmosphere. The cars being in the field next door is great, it’s a short walk to gate b, and I like the separation between site and sleep, it makes ‘on’ time and ‘off’ time clearly delineated for me. Literally the only thing I’d change would be a ski lift up muddy lane, cos it doesn’t half get knackering after a week of traipsing up it at dogshit o’clock in the morning

Not liking the sound of this hill

For us it’s only every 5 years, so no issue really

A bit of a weird one, but I received a reply from the Recycling crew about possible shifts being available. My fault, but I didn't realise you needed a reference from someone who has worked with them before. I've messaged people I know, but I only think they've volunteered with Oxfam. Just for reference, I did have a volunteer shift with Mycause before they cancelled places, so really would love to go. Any recommendations on what to do would be great.

Next question for Oxfam folk...Planning to pack as lightly as I can which is no mean feet for me. Tent is a 3 man pop up, will have a rucksack then probably a bag for lift type bag with my festival clothes in it and a camping chair, probably a case of cider. Is this ok to take on the Oxfam bus from Temple Meads?

Also any other tips for a first time volounteer much appreciated!

I think most of us recyclers have already used up our recs already this year (I think we got 3) or wouldn't recommend someone we didn't personally know - that's the whole point right? Good luck though - there's lots of us on here.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I kind of realised that after I asked the question. I guess the more you volunteer at festivals and glasto the more likely you’ll get to know people who are part of these different volunteer groups. Tbh I was a bit ignorant to the joining process for the recycling crew when asking to be put on the waiting list, so didn’t realise you needed a reference.

Think I’ll just have to be more proactive in future years in order to get a volunteer spot.

Just a heads up, I was in the exact same position, my cause cancelled and previously volunteered for Oxfam.

I got offered a place on the recycling team after telling them of my position and on the express interest form I simply put N/A to a reference because I didn’t have one.

The only trouble I had was with logging into complete my application. By the time I got a response to reset my details another volunteering position opened up for me and confirmed my place immediately so I chose that. I sent the recycling team an email to make them aware of this and if there were any future opportunities with them that I would love the opportunity.

Hope this helps 👍

Who did you get a spot with in the end?

I received the same email late last night from the recycling crew about potential shifts.

I completed the expression of interest form first thing this morning and gave the details of the person recommending me so keeping my fingers crossed!

Sorry I thought you were asking

sorry thought you were asking about recycling, got on with festive lizards, they do stewarding.

I was asking which you will be volunteering with this year, so I guess that's Festive Lizards? Not heard of them before, where will you be stewarding?

How long did it take for the recycling crew to send you the application after you completed the express interest form?

They are based around ped gate A helping people from buses, selling car park passes and general traffic management.

I found them pretty late on through fb groups and they only appear to be a small group but from my communication with them they are really nice!

Was added to reserve list on Sunday, on Monday I was told they would have availability opening up on shifts and to express interest so filled that in on Monday. And on Tuesday I was offer the space and given a log in details.
