How amazing was Out To Get You?! And that was the first time I've ever seen them play Sit Down. Such a great set.

Been playing it since covid. Tim thinks its now apt again. I usually seem then once a year and theyve played it every time since, even on their orchestral tour.

Never seen them before, always been an extremely distant fan who likes them, owns a couple of albums but not delved too deeply - I thought they were bloody great, and I’m off to explore lots of their later stuff now. A kind of psychedelic, almost flaming lipsy ability to mould a song and make it a little hypnotic, they were really good. I was mightily impressed!

Only frustration was they ran out of time and didn't play Laid

They didn't really run out of time, they know they have an hour. Come on, on time and play it if you've scheduled it.

Yes agreed! Brilliant set but guess they ran out of time because of the crowd surfing 🤣 my little patch of The Other sang Laid at the end anyway. Great set.

To be fair I'm kinda glad I didn't stick around, the first two songs didn't give me much oomph though my mind was made anyway.

We loved their set, shows a bands class when the newer, lesser known tunes still sounded great and not out of place.
Our favourite set of the festival and I don’t mind admitting that I got quite emotional during Out to get you🥲❤️

Used to be a huge fan. My second ever gig was James at the Gmex in 1993. Not really listened to much since they reformed though. Don't know why, a lot of it sounds really good.

Anyway, thought they were great. One of the sets of the weekend

Lots of songs in their catalogue take variable times played live, as they'll extend things out and play around a little if it's working. It's what makes them exciting to watch live: it's a not tight, carefully planned show.

I’ve seen James a couple of times on the farm but was watching on the iPlayer this time round. Obviously I’m a fan but I maintain that they could easily headline Other or sub pyramid in that sunset slot and not be out of place.

Loved it, Tim Booth had died his beard with Ronseal and gave it some as he always does.  The new tracks were to be expected and they've got too many classic songs to play everything we all want to hear.

They need to get James in for a Woodsies headliner I reckon.

They were great.

It would have really really gone off with just a couple more hits. I'd cut Sound (it's no one's best James song let's be honest) as it goes on for 10 mins and also cut one of the new slow ones.

We didn't get any of these which shows how big their back catalogue is:

She's a Star

Tomorrow

Waltzing Along

Laid

Ring the Bells

Fred Estair

Stick the 2016 and 2024 iplayer sets on back to back and you've got the makings of an all time great set.  I've got zero complaints about Sound, it goes on as long as it needs to and I was well happy to be there for it.  They aren't a band that like to do gigs that are just focussing on the music they made in their most popular period and I think they did a great job this year with dropping some crowd pleasers for both the long time fans and the casuals.

!!!
Sound is one of their best songs! Saw them perform it live at Bath Forum and Andy walked through the crowd playing the trumpet refrain - it was magical!

Thought the set this year was great - and booked tickets for their tour while it was on 🙂

Agreed - Sound was the perfect way to start a set. To then follow it with a fantastic rendition of Come Home! Just superb.

I've seen them live about a dozen times - even though I was only watching from home this time, that was the best I've seen them since Manchester G-Mex 1990.

Went out & bought the new album today on the strength of that performance - loved the new songs in their set.

I mean the set was 6 hits, 3 tracks off the new album and Beautiful Beaches, which I think is probably the most hit-focused set I've ever seen them do.

Can't begrudge them doing three off the new album, you want to remind people you're not a heritage act and are still making new music, and hopefully sell a few albums.

So the only track you can really cut to fit in another hit is Beautiful Beaches but they've got a really good live arrangement and visuals now for that and have been closing tour shows with it.

I'm sure they'd have played for two hours had they been asked to...

    • I’ve said it elsewhere too but Emily Eavis said a 2028 headliner was booked, to me that’s only going to be someone the size of Oasis or Taylor Swift
    • Christ didn't even see that!
    • It does feel very bland. It would certainly spell another year (my third, I think) away from Pyramid headliners for me. That doesn't mean they aren't worthy, though. I don't follow what any of them are up to, as it isn't my thing. Good luck to them.   You would think coming off a fallow year, they would want one big hitter. 'Big hitter' is obviously open to debate, but that was/is Madonna. Let's have it right. The eggs have gone in that basket, and it seems (as far the rumours go) that it's blown up. So now you're left with another plan B/replacement headliner.   I'm still of the opinion that Oasis will do it, before the Oasis thing is all said and done. Probably 2028, if they can come to an agreement. It may transpire that 2027 is bland (or at least to some of us), and 2028 is a bit... wild.   Again, though, none of us categorically know ANY of the headliners, as it stands.
    • Second go.....    Still f**king fantastic - Well done WIlliam Orbit -  Bugman & Trimm Trabb mega tracks - No Distance Left To Run hauntingly Beautiful
