2025 Headliners

Thinking about how good that Rod-Chic-Chappell-Olivia run would be. I've just checked and the longest I've ever stayed put at one stage is 3 consecutive acts at the Pyramid. It would be great fun to stay put and party the night away, but the sad thing is you just know it'll take you a good 40 minutes to get to and from the toilet in that crowd.

Nonsense - with a 30 minute gap between each act it's easy to do a piss break without missing a single song. Only in an Elton size crowd will it take you 40 minutes to get to and fro.

except the gaps increase the later the day goes. First few are 30 mins and then its long from 4th down and onward.

I mean if I was in charge.. 🤷‍♂️ three young headliners might be a bit much but it’d definitely be safer.

Except we know its going to happen so they might as well get it over with.  I dont think Charli was ever in the cards to be a Pyramid headliner for them but I think when it all shakes out youll see people demanding it happen for optics and possibly safety. Like it this gonna be the next thing to get the council up in a twist again? Too many crowding issues the past few years anyway. Now youre inviting  back that criticism.

I know its impossible to schedule everyone so that there isnt crowd surges and such but doesnt take much to be sensible. Like lets say Fred Again was still in the frame and was on for  Saturday night. Then Charli subbing would be a slam dunk and you get a like Snow Patrol or  even Paramore or whoever to top Other and crisis averted.

and i say Oasis cause why the f**k not. Ive had Liam in 2017, Noel in 2022. Let their combined powers just make an appearance in 2025. At worst I can hope for is getting into a warm up gig anyway.

If Pulp subs Neil what an insane combo that would be.

I kind of don’t want the festival to be as stacked as rumours suggest, I wanna have some chill time mulling about - by the sounds of it I’ll be running about like a blue arsed fly.

Most other festivals next year are relatively weak, so going to tempter my expectations for the under card.

Is it? I thought the capacity was 60,000 ish. Putting her on against a good but fairly small headliner like Neil Young is just too obviously asking for trouble to pass the risk assessment. Charli against Neil will also be mad, but at least people have had plenty of opportunities to see Charli previously (as well as in 2025).

I'm not sure you know, the Charli XCX show in 2022 wasn't even close to filling out the tent, so surely there are loads of people who've only just discovered her to suddenly get her to headline status elsewhere.

I also think there's a lot more Glastonbury newcomers with the ticket changes, plus all this hype around Brat Girl Summer and I think putting her on the Other Stage against someone like Neil Young is also asking for trouble.

I'd do neither personally!

So what’s the biggest factor in all of this uncertainty? Dearth of top acts available? Glastonbury not on the ball? Glastonbury £ rates? Acts can earn huge sums on the arena circuit? Too many other festivals in competition?

<quietly> there isn't really much uncertainty at this point - we're just pretending there is so as not to spoil the fun for folk who still want to get hyped up for anyone that's not The 1975 / Neil Young / O-Rod </quietly>

somehow you think you can still fit 100,000 people there when ya cant lol.

You think Chappell would get 100K to Other Stage field at headliner time?  Against 6 other headliners and Arcadia and SH/SEC?  That's crazy.  I think the US growth must have been more explosive than here for you to think that, tbh.

I like her and would probably go if I'm not on shift, but I don't think half the total festival population would.

    • The Radio Dept.?! That's a surprise to me, they haven't toured in like 8 years. Hopefully they will announce some more shows.
    • I was assuming September in Stirling might have a different issue tbf in the form of it just pissing it down.
