2025 Headliners

Not to burst the whole Chappell Roan bubble but in the past 10 year only 1 Pyramid sub has played Reading & Leeds in the same year. Not to say it's not possible, just not likely. On the other hand multiple Other stage headliners have played Reading & Leeds in the same year.

Makes me think she could be up against Neil Young while Charli XCX subs The 1975.

Don't think that that historic placements of that nature really matter - ultimately, if the R&L contract also allows the act to play Glastonbury, then it's up to Glastonbury to decide where they best fit.

it's all subjective...right? Not sure I'll be spending much time at pyramid, which is no bad thing.

I spent most of my time in Avalon and Acoustic last year... and thankfully still had a wonderful time!  Ideally I always like to see one Pyramid Headliner, but all the rumours so far suggest that for a second year running I probably won't be!

Chappell Roan the only one of those bill-toppers at R+L we'll see here. Pyramid sub info seems straight enough.

Thank god

The others are shite!

Itd be a bit sh*tty of Oasis to announce a reunion, sell a billion tickets for it, explicitly say theyre not doing festivals, and then their first set together being on a televised festival stage. with a crowd that would be at best 50% thrilled, and 50% walking off to see something else. Cant see it, it knacks up their own gigs.

I don't see it this year

Can't see them making it to 2027 either - both seem to have slagged off the fest recently anyway

The scenes when O-Rod is announced as Other Stage headliner! 🙂

both of them go most years and both have played recently. Don't take anything the gallagher brother say in the press too

The neil young info included Charli XCX headlining the other on the same night though. If one is true, both probs are

For it to be an all-timer , your headliners need to be on point. The 1975, O-Rod and Neil Young are not on point as a collective (or individually) for that that matter.

I suppose, but seems like a lot of big hitters playing lower down this year compared to last year.

Interesting, must have missed that info, maybe Chappell is headlining Other on a different night? Up against the 1975? It almost seems too obvious for her to sub O-Rod that I think Glastonbury purposely wouldn't do it cause they don't want people just staying in the same place on Sunday.

Chappell info was specifically for before O Rod. Imo Chappell makes more sense for sub than other headline as she only has one album. But nothing confirmed anyway and days and positions do tend to move about even after acts have confirmed.

2024 isn't really a useful yardstick given that generally speaking the lineup was pretty sub-par.

2023 had Lewis Capaldi third down and even if I'm not a fan he's still a pretty big deal.

Yeah fair, no doubt Capaldi was a big booking as was Lizzo that year. But Chappell would be a huge get. Massive american artist. 2024 was a dud though, just looked back and the Pyramid is weak.

The reason why isn't clear (heard burnout mentioned, but that's not set in stone), but it seems he's not in the frame.

Ahh, shame. He was one I was really looking forward to seeing. Thanks for the update.

I know this is the “headliner” thread and I can see how The 1975, Neil Young, O-Rod will seem immense to some and not so much to others (if indeed that’s what we end up with).

However at least at Glasto there are at least 6 or 7 other stages of huge note that will all have “HEADLINERS” that will be something much more in line with our individual tastes.

if not there’s Arcadia, Shangri La, the healing fields ……

So much more…..

we are indeed lucky

Ps - From a personal view, I’ve seen Neil young headline before, look forward to O-Rod and will not be watching the 1975 but the rest of the rumours flying around make 2025 look extremely promising

A  while back many people were suggesting Fred Again as a possible headliner. Has something changed to mean that won't be happening now? Haven't seen his name mentioned for ages.

he dropped out. Citing exhaustion but who knows what it really was. He was slated to headline Coachella and then nowhere to be found. There was also some insane theory that Reading signed him to a 10 year exclusive contract which a huge stretch.

The great thing about Glasto is that minor stages there are equivalent to major stages elsewhere, so there’s no reason to think that a confirmed booking at a bigger stage doesn’t mean an appearance at a lower stage or a slightly lower slot. Don’t forget the prestige of this festival.

you thought Avril was a disaster? Chappel will be 10 times worse. An artist that it was impossible to get tickets to is on at a festival where its convenient? Has to be on the Pyramid. Does she sub Neil or 1975 then. Those are the only choices.

Other Stage field is more than capable of hosting Chappel at headliner time, up against other headline acts.  It's pretty much the same setup and capacity as Reading/Leeds main stage where she is headlining.
