The Balti pies at Villa Park are exceptional. Also the Stephens Steak Bridies at East End Park Dunfermline. Furthermore, Fray Bentos tins are very good for making Yorkshire Puddings in. That is all.

Weirdly im off to St Andrews in early jan, i appreciate you'll tell me that everything there is hideous, but im hoping they do a fine balti pie as well. Obviously i love a balti pie. Scottish football pies are a level above the pies down here i'd say, they've a wonderful way with a peppery steak pie at Clachnacuddin, my highland league love

You're opening a can of erm  . . . . pies with that comment sunshine, and as the resident pie expert i feel im qualified to steam in and derail the arguments with pie chat. Fray bentos pies are acceptable, and have often been a last port of call emergency saviour, sitting in the cupboard all ambient and ready. The steak n kidney puddings are particularly alright.

Obviously they're not brilliant pies, but they do a job, and ill not have them slandered!

The steak and ale piglets pantry pie i had at Crawley v Lincoln at the weekend was a wonderful pie, thats my most recent pie. 9/10 i'd say

The trays are good for big Yorkshires

At the risk of them being announced for R&L in a couple hours, could Muse doing a secret set be the reason to decline Download?

Seems unlikely they would do nothing uk except a glasto secret set in one of their biggest markets.

Download would be fine with them doing both

I wonder if the Balti pies at Villa are the same as at Shrewsbury Town?  With cumin seeds on top?  Lovely!  Usually far better than the football.

Couldn’t see them doing a secret set at Glastonbury as a reason to decline Download?

Not that I think a Muse secret set is at all likely anyway.

If I had to guess at a “big” secret set this year, it’d be Kings of Leon. Not for me but it would be Killers-esque.

Wonder if Vampire Weekend are there if they’d do a second set like last time taking requests.

I'm going to pick up tickets for them next week, but very happy i've decided to do that seeing this now!

Secret set maybe from VW if they are still about perhaps

KOL seem very unlikely to do it consider they haven't played before (i think), Muse have a lot of history with the fest

whoops

feel like they are only in it for the £££ these days

Could be a late-stage grab at relevance again. Wouldn’t headline on their own back, but being a secret set would make some buzz about them and they’re around. If I was a betting man.

Personally hope for much more interesting secret sets. A KOL or George Ezra type holds zero water for me.

We ruling Muse out of outright topping the bill?

likely to be announced for R&L

If they aren't though i guess since we aren't allowed to listen to good info they must be in the running given a lack of other shows in the UK. They must be doing something!

Churnups slot perhaps

We're not ruling anyone out.  All options remain open until the poster drops.  They're just as likely as anyone, up to and including Beyonce and Tay Tay.

I mean that’s not strictly true is it. Some are more likely than others.

I love Muse, and would happily have them there, but it just doesn’t feel likely.

Maybe more breathing room needed from their last performance (Coldplay are Coldplay, can’t really compare).

The passage of time feels weirdly smaller as we're ageing tbf. Last time Muse did Glastonbury was 2016, so nine years will have passed by next year's festival. Once upon a time that would've been seen as long enough.

Would probably be a logical (and good) booking though

That was me getting optimistic for 3 big electronic headliners. I didn't mean to post it as fact, I has assumed it was already heavily rumoured.

Fri- Underworld

Sat- Basement Jaxx

Sun- The Prodigy

Don't know much about Neil Young so have decided to give him a listen. Just listened to the After the Gold Rush album and I like it!

Any recommendations on where to go next?

If you want an idea about how amazing his live shows are, listen to Weld - by a country mile the greatest live album ever, IMO.

I don't see why. If we've learned anything from the last few pages it's that the Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Lady Gaga are every bit as likely as O-Rod.

When booking acts for festivals there are a lot of things to consider such as cost, availability or a myriad of factors which increases or decreases likelihood. I think it’s safe to consider AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Lady Gaga as less likely than some other names, such as even Muse. Happy to be wrong though! I just don’t think the every single musical artist in the world is as likely as each other to perform next year is a great outlook on things. It’s just reiterating pages of arguments, if people can’t discuss why they think anyone is likely or unlikely because “everyone has equal chance of headlining” what even is the point of this thread.

Likewise with Muse, just a gut feeling, even as a Muse fan. They haven’t really done anything of note since the last appearance and even then there was a load of murmurs about it being a boring booking. Can see them returning if they don’t fall off as they’re still Stadium/Arena sized (within reason) but don’t see it next year, maybe they do R&L or maybe they just have a quiet one. But as @charlierc said that last headline was 2016, doesn’t feel that long ago at all!
