I'm pretty sure that when Bowie played, the coverage agreement wasn't written into it in the same way it now is.

Not sure about when the Stones played, but even if it was - it's the Stones.

The Stones played 2 nights at BST at Hyde Park in the weeks after the festival and were selling a DVD of it later that year (which I got brought for Xmas) so thats why they didn't want their full set televised I believe

Don't know much about Neil Young so have decided to give him a listen. Just listened to the After the Gold Rush album and I like it!

Any recommendations on where to go next?

hilarious jokes aside, Everybody knows this is nowhere is my personal favourite. With Harvest moon and  Hawks & Doves also up there for me

That makes sense  - they probably needed that extra cash from the DVD sales

So, we're still leaning The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo, it seems.

In terms of the names most recently cited, yeah.

What I’m enjoying about this year is that nobody seems to have much clue at all. The names being dropped changes each day as someone else with ‘info’ ensures another few days are spent talking about an act, before someone else does the same with someone different.

Everything is still to play for.

Agreed, especially that 3rd slot which changes every few days. Just a few days ago Taylor Swift was back in the conversation and then that got replaced by Neil Young.

I have all my fingers crossed for a nice surprise in the future.

Don't forget Stevie Wonder, who's changed his mind more times that the 'people in the know'!

Taylor swift was only mentioned on here cause of one tweet from someone. No solid info.

Main people who have had some sort of info on them for 2025 are:

O Rod, 1975, Stevie W, Sam Fender, Neil Young, Eminem, Fred Again and that's basically it I think.

It's a changing picture though, some are locks (O Rod) and some it seems were the festival offering but it presumably being turned down (eminem) so that's how you end up with a variety of names. As it gets closer to March the rumours get firmed up more and more to the point where you basically can always know who is headlining in advance.

Seems that way 👀

Taylor Swift being in the conversation at all baffled me. Kind of glad that one seems to have died out.

The fact The S*n went in on The 1975 after those sources and the odds boded strongly for their prospects. Rodrigo's dates align too perfectly.

The third fascinates me.

On The Beach, Sleeps With Angels, Harvest, Harvest Moon, Mirrorball (with Pearl Jam), Chrome Dream, Hitchhiker. And I’m probably the only person who thinks the country album Old Ways is great.

Theres a huge amount of info from great sources pointing at each of the trio you mentioned.

Seems unlikely to change at this point. It has been exciting leading up to this though!

There were supposedly great sources pointing at Fred, Stevie, and many others. Why stop now?

There’s the issue. Her name has only “died out” because she hasn’t been mentioned for a few pages. That in itself doesn’t mean she’s less likely. If she’s mentioned again, supported by two or three follow up posts, she’ll somehow be “locked in”, again unlikely.

Nobody’s got a clue.

All “solid sources” seems to be suggesting different acts. It’s exiting! Nothing duller than a prediction far out that ends up being true 🥱

I actually thought that person who tweeted  the Taylor info has pretty good credentials even though I never really expected / expect it to happen … just who you are happy to trust / not trust isn’t it …. As I’ve said before . It’s fine either way and this thread would be much shorter without discussion

Exactly. This rush to be seen as the most credible source is boring af. That’s not to say there aren’t people with some inside info, but nothing’s confirmed until it’s announced and until then, why not have some fun and speculate? Otherwise it’s a dull yawnfest.

Because there's a difference between them in trying to book someone and them actually being booked. 5 good sources say Neil Young on the Saturday. Stevie was way less firm than that. Also as time goes on things firm up more. Considering you've been on here for years I feel like you should have a rough understanding of how this works as it goes a similar way almost every year.

    • Where was this announced, if i may ask?   I really lucked out with a great spot for Ninajirachi up front with ample dancing space. What a crazyass vibe.   Overall it wasn't my favorite edition but the Friday and Saturday experiences justify a return trip next year.

    • If Werchter pulled in Blink and Foos plus like Sabrina if she's touring and got System if they are I'd be more inclined to try it vs RIP if they got Blink, Foos and System. I don't at the moment, maybe reflection will be different, think that RIP is greatly setup for overseas travelling over. It feels more like currently day festival days with a camping over separate rather than hotel as its included.
    • I think many US people are fed up with the US and have definitely discovered how amazing it is to come to Barcelona for a better experience and way cheaper than back home.   Surely PS doesnt set up a huge commercial festival only to not put in place a system where QR codes can’t be re-used?
    • They'll get Foo Fighters as well.
