Reactions to the full lineup

Torturing myself by filling in a clashfinder that I'll never use and it would have worked out pretty well. Would have had to miss Blondie, Alt-J and The Churnups, but not the worst outcome. Wouldn't have been spending much time at the Pyramid, which tbh I wouldn't mind as I found the atmosphere a bit disappointing for most of the undercard acts I saw there last year. Woodsies has delivered and looks to have absorbed a bit of the Williams Green indie absence, particularly on the sat. 3 of my highlights in Chvrches, Lana and QOTSA on the Other.

I honestly don't know what everyone is on about here. For me seeing the lineup has truly put to bed anything about "glastonbudget".

I would have a clash pretty much constantly with a choice of acts to go and see.

Every venue in Silver Hayes is open until 3am on four days. That's another 8 acts on levels compared to sonic and about 21 hours more content in that area.

There's 5 venues on the lineup in Shangri-la now, a new one and reworkings of gas tower and a bigger platform 23.

BBC intro is doing until 11pm, another 6 hours of operation.

The pyramid has 1 less act then last year (it wasn't 9 acts a day)

Alongside numerous other changes. It's gonna be great.

This. Only just saw it, but I completely agree.

I'm not sure why people get berated for not liking a line up. Music is subjective and it's not going to please everyone. "give your ticket up then" posts don't really add much to the conversation.

I agree. We all know Glastonbury is about more than the main stages and headliners otherwise we wouldn't buy a ticket year after year without knowing anything about the line up but that doesn't mean we can't discuss it if the lineup turns out not to be a vintage one either. Its an underwhelming one for me, the odd act here and there but mostly it will be one for exploring and discovering new music and areas of the festival. Which is fine and no, I don't want to give my ticket back!

Why?

Aside from the fact that Acoustic have their own booking team and budget - whether you like them or not, Texas have plenty songs that will go down very well to a good sized Pyramid crowd on a sunny afternoon.

They're pretty much a by the numbers Pyramid booking at this point.

For me there's a strong handful of acts I want to see but definitely a lot less than normal, I have large 4-5 hour gaps on some days and everyone I want to see is all crammed together which sucks. That's not to say I won't discover someone amazing when I have a chance to go through all the unknown bands.

For me though under first impression it feels like they are trying to save money where they can. There's Williams Green being scrapped so I feel like we've lost a big chunk of decent sized acts performing on the Wednesday which really used to get my weekend started. The comedy acts are pretty weak for me this year. And too many TBA's. Why can't they just release the line up in full. Might be in the minority but would scrap secret sets altogether. Let people see who they want to see and be done with it.

Also no silent disco, again. Really not sure why this was scrapped. Was dearly missed last year. I love my electronic music but for one night of the festival (usually Thursday) dancing in Silver Hayes to indie classics and pop until the sun came up was the one. Now all we have is Baggy Mondays for an hour and half in the afternoon in a tiny tent which you can't get remotely close to from overcrowding. I'm sure a few years ago there used to be a Propaganda bar/tent too. But seems like it's just purely electronic music now in the nights.

I wonder if the drip feeding of the bill actually counts against the festival on this? If I'd only seen the poster (and not kept checking for tips on here and certain other places) and then saw the full thing completely, I'd be picking through it finding all this stuff I want to see. As it is, I'm already used to most of it.

Nah. They’re in the same slot Sheryl Crow had and probably on balance have the same strength of back catalogue. Reckon they’ll be great.

Well they say that Glastonbury is not just about the main stage(s), and that's never more true than this year!

Very underwhelmed with the newly-announced acts for the Pyramid and Other stages (Pulp excepted of course).   Moving to 7 acts per day on the Pyramid (from 8 or even 9 on some days) is cost-cutting extraordinare - coupled with already-known things like no Williams Green (and no obvious replacement).  Then having people like Rick Astley and Sophie Ellis-Bextor on the main stage at Glastonbury - feels like something you'd see at MUCH smaller festivals (and they have all been doing this in a semi-ironic way for many years already).

But on the plus side - look at the DJ lineup on Friday around midnight!  Carl Cox and Faithless in the Glade, Four Tet in Block 9, Annie Mac in San Remo then in Shangri-la, The Blessed Madonna in Block 9 and Shangri-la, Chemical Brothers at Arcadia - just incredible.

Think I'm going to have a couple of nasty clashes (Pulp vs Courteeners; The Hu vs Viagra Boys vs Slowdive) - but then lots of time where I'll be none too fussed about seeing anything in particular, so will get out and have a wander.  Not a bad thing at all...

Was Annie Mac 10pm Friday San Remo? It’s TBA now

Or like Crowded House on the Pyramid last year as well.

Think this is actually the happiest I've been on lineup day of the 4 years I've been going. Could easily fill out 3 days of things I'd see without looking up some of the names I don't recognise. Still upset about missing QOTSA or Elton though.

It was when the lineup first came out, yes!

Sounds like you need to hit the bar next to BBC Introducing after hours - was a big indie disco (certainly on the Saturday) last year.  Also a bar by Leftfield was being talked about elsewhere as an indie disco by night…

I think Silent Disco was scrapped because of fears that the shared headphones posed a COVID risk. No idea where I got this from though…

Genuinely think Elton -> QOTSA -> Blondie as a 1/2/3 would've been very watchable. But not quite. Didn't know Lil Nas X was big enough or had the catalogue to fit in-between (maybe before Lizzo is what I'd have thought?) but it's Glastonbury. Genre-swapping is kinda par for the course.

Admittedly I'm not going so I don't get that much of a say. But I will declare I reckon there's enough there for me to gladly seek out on iPlayer. Friday has the most of what I'd want to see.

Haven't missed one since 2004 but that is easiest the worst line up I've seen. I know one man's meat etc but that is poor. Got Melvyn's hands all over it and even the headliners are standard Reading/Leeds fare.

If it rains it could go down as a bad one, and if as I hear they are letting in as many as last time, it might not be a lot of fun.

Already know several regs not going again because of the overcrowding last time.

Still time will tell.

Anyone else struggling with the Clashfinder? When I click on the box for the thing to add it, it just gives the URL to that things own page at the bottom and does nothing else. Sure its user error but I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas.

Elton John is the very epitome of Reading / Leeds fare. Can’t believe I didn’t appreciate that before. You’re right. sh*t line-up.

If you click the three lines on the top right and select 'Desktop Clashfinder' you should be right.
