Who's Playing Where ?

Wait, Fever Ray is headlining The Park on Friday? I was hoping to see the Manics during the Arctic Monkeys...

Fatboy Slim confirmed himself for Park Saturday and then Alison Goldfrapp said she was playing before Thundercat (presumably headlining) on the Park on the Sunday so that leaves Friday for Fever Ray. Manics undoubtedly gonna end up on Other somewhere.

SOME CLARIFICATIONS

Basically if an act has 'Confirmed' next to it, official Glasto bods have confirmed their placement. If it says 'TBC', there's either a self-confirm or a generally considered to be correct rumour about the act's placement. If there's an act that says '(unannounced)' then that act hasn't been confirmed by Glasto bods yet but there's a strong rumour that they're playing at this specific stage and time.

If there's nothing next to that act's name, that's me guessing where they'll be based on comparisons to artist's of a similar size/style in 2022's lineup.

Finally, if there's question marks, that's where I believe/hope there's still space for new acts to be announced.

Now I'll start doing my actual job that I was meant to start doing an hour and a half ago.

EDIT: Oh and the 'rumoured' ones on Sunday other are from someone earlier in this thread. Can't remember the source tbh.

The OS booking this year, really really poor… Plenty elsewhere but man that looks weak.

This is great! Was waiting for something like this, though there a few things to change:

The Chicks - playing Amsterdam on Friday

The Big Moon - Confirmed to play Sunday, not Friday

Central Cee - more likely Friday than Saturday evening (playing in the US on Sunday)

Speakers World Quartet - confirmed for the Sunday not Saturday

The Murder Capital - confirmed Friday 2pm not Sunday

Working Men's Club - confirmed for Saturday not Sunday

Also personally think Stefflon Don will get billed higher than early Park stage, and Weyes Blood probably a bit lower than Park sub

Weyes Blood is playing Colours Festival on Bexhill-on-Sea on the Saturday so she’ll be Friday or Sunday

Right I’ve went through the replies and updated this based on what confirmations people have that I didn’t know about. I’ve also taken some opinions on board while sticking to my guns on others.

e.g. I think you’re all underestimating Carly Rae Jepsen and I think Aitch is right where he is given that Parklife is a Manchester homecoming gig for him.

Oh also I think Weyes Blood is bigger than Goldfrapp but that contradicts what she said so that bits probably wrong.

Also on the more general comments about the quality of the line-up, I’m on the side that actually likes it a lot more after doing this. I still think across the board the headliners and most of the subs are trash, but I think from mid-afternoon to sub-headliner you’ve got a real great mix across these big stages, with some real fun acts in the morning too.

Yeah it is very poor.  In saying that, based on the line-up posted, I would probably be at the Other for at least 4 acts on Friday ... and then nowhere near it for the rest of the weekend!

Should 'the jay' be 'the joy'?  Hard to find details on either but the Joy are a modestly sized band from SA with some UK dates in May

edit: and thanks for getting to a refreshed version so quick!

editx2: Ezra collective playing 4th & 3rd down on Park & WH on the same day - think the WH one only (they are on Truth stage at some point too, so maybe are playing Park too, just not that close)

As I said on the West Holts thread a few days ago the pattern falls apart on the Sudan Archives line as they have confirmed on their site they are playing Saturday, so unless we've had other confirmations, that is all quite likely to be off the mark from that line down.

Maybe - I was looking at an earlier lineup guess (from the other place), what they had for Woodsies.  Not too bad, half the stuff they predicted is in there (e.g. Murder Capital, Shame) - but they had Warpaint 3rd down on the Friday, Phoenix as sub on the Sunday and Rina 4th down on the Sunday.  (Potentially due to budget?) there might be a lot of things in higher spots than initially thought.

In this case it's probably a straight swap between Chvrches and CRJ.  I've probably seen Chvrches listed 3rd more often, this is the first time I've seen CRJ getting the higher spot.  Lazy spotify comparison CRJ has 16m monthly listeners (300k London) and a 2022 album, Chvrches have 4.5m monthly (124k London) and a 2021 album.

Important to remember a huge amount of CRJ listens will be call me maybe

Can only see listen-figures for her top 10 songs but call me maybe accounts for 45% of her activity across those ten songs.

Important to remember that call me maybe's > 1 billion listens have been over 10+ years whereas 5 of the others are from last years album - accumulating activity volumes for much less time - so at worst half of her 16m monthly listens are for call me maybe, but probably a lot fewer.

Sizeable chunk goes to Owl City too!

Seems to be loads on the other stage and a few Pyramid slots left too.

My assumption is that stuff from the original festival poster not yet allocated (to woodsies, WH & generally known) should be distributed fairly evenly between Park, Other and Pyramid - so probably there should be more space across all those stages - but still guesswork so great to see peoples thoughts.

I've not got tickets this year but if I had done I'd be using it as an opportunity to see what the smaller stages are like at headliner times and also to discover new areas/experiences that I wouldn't have had I had guaranteed preferences for who to see at the main stages.

Don't think the line up is as awful as I first thought it was now but agreed it's not going to be an all-timer.

yep think that's exactly how I'll treat it - kind of refreshing and even a bad Glastonbury is the best festival going 😄

Potentially the wrong thread, but this is quite a startling discovery: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/may/16/rapper-slowthai-appears-in-court-charged-with-rape-oxford

Can't imagine he'll be playing live anytime soon. Probably my most anticipated act of the weekend and he's a fucking rapist

You're not both wrong

Blur will be looking for new support for the wembley gig i'm off to in July then. You'd imagine he'll disappear from public eye until convicted/cleared, but it doesnt always work like that (sadly)

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
    • Yup and they aren't cheap   Glastonbury is different though, it's a place that will pack out for rarities they don't usually see. Download strictly speaking shouldn't be the strangest place for Avril to pop up of she had been a touring artist of longer times over the years.   Avril and GC would get the same billing for me and GC are selling arenas out quicker than Avril sold Ally Pally. Bearing in mind she'd pnly done soem Brixton dates before.
    • Avril gets above GC on rarity (see Cypress Hill this year). She drew in something like 70,000 at Glastonbury, so much so that they had to close the field off. I’d wager that she would get the biggest crowd of the entire weekend if she was to play DL.
