We have no idea how long you keep the antibodies for, so we could easily have a situation that by the time this new 15% has had covid, the 15% who had it in the first wave have lost their resistance (it will have been 1 year)

Nope. Antibodies may dwindle over time but that does not mean immunity is gone. Pretty common misconception I hear all the time which isn't helped by media reporting.

Most new evidence suggests people are immune for a long time possibly years.

Also the middle class CAN stay in. Its extremely unfair and I totally get those who have to go to work just being like "well I should be able to see people if I have to work"

I also think many of the middle class who fill in these surveys are only saying they follow the rules but then don't...

None of this came across as I wanted it to- I didnt mean all working class are stupid (to be fair they resisted Corbyn when it could've been easier to be taken in by it - they know how it works) but I have infinitely more respect for working class than middle class anyway. Middle class virtue signalling is something I'm seeing (and probably doing) a lot of

There are some working class people who are staying home though. See most people on furlough from retail/hospitality etc (like my mate who can barely afford to eat on 80% pay).

I agree on the survey thing though.

doesn't the evidence also suggest that subsequent infections are not likely to be severe?

That's what I mean though - its unfair that they aren't getting 100% in those industries and aren't really allowed to find new jobs. It's not that they can stay at home they're sort of being forced to without enough money.

Was about to suggest a socialist policy of taking further % amounts off people who can afford it and topping up those on 80% who can't but it couldn't be easily managed

The surveys showing everybody being good aren’t meaningless but they won’t tell the full picture. They rely on self-reporting.

Likewise I don’t think there is a divide in class terms but there is in engagement terms. If you’re posting regularly on this thread, or following loads of Epedemiologists on Twitter you are by definition far more engaged than most people. You’re probably more concerned than most too which means you’re more likely to follow the rules.

Its true of almost any subject actually.

Yeah I agree. My main point really is just that it's not as simple as working class go to work and middle class stay at home - there's tons of variation in that. Most people would agree doctors are middle class for one!

I think only one person worldwide has got it again and died.

There is a lot of misinfomation out there and this nonsense of us only being immune as long as we have the antibodies still kicking about is top of the pile.

We could ensure that large firms pay their taxes in full, which would likely help fund more things like the furlough too.

The wife’s positive test has been confirmed. 10 isolation starts now!!
No symptoms for me yet .. but going to just assume I have it.

Sorry to hear that... hopefully her symptoms are minimal, and yours too if you get it. I’ve known two couples where the one person contracts it and the other doesn’t, despite sharing a house.

I guess there's an argument for UBI but I can see how it would be hard to move away from that

My partners cousin tested positive just before Xmas. For various reasons she had moved back in with her mum (my partners auntie) so she had to self isolate for 10 days too. The auntie (a nurse on a Covid ward) didn't contract Covid - but she did miss her jab because she had to isolate.

Doesn't seem to be locked in that you will get it because someone you live with does. One of the many things I'm sure we will understand in the fullness of time about this virus.

I hope your wife doesn't get too ill and the rest of your household avoid contacting the virus.

IMO:

Festivals - no

Holidays - yes

Euro 2020 - yes, but probably in a single country and without fans

I think I’d agree on the whole, although could see some domestic fans in the sporting events?

Holidays will be actively encouraged as there’s so much money in them. The eternal optimist in me hopes for some smaller festivals or late summer but I’m starting to settle on being happy with some form of live music by the year end.

No

Just had my Lions trip in late July/early August to South Africa pulled in full expectation the tour is not going ahead and we can't get insurance against either changes, cancellation or Covid and its variants. SA not in a good place either, and that will be heading into their winter.

There is no information or advice about future requirements for vaccinations or certificates.

Quite glad it's been pulled tbh
