But what if the monster is real?

It could well be, but while there are a few things pointing in the direction of potential enhanced transmissibility, thankfully no signal for increased virulence. Just hard to say anything for sure at the moment.

Boris has promised no extensions, so expect an extension within the next few days

Boris/Tories promised lots, they are done. We are witnessing the fall of a government.

To avoid the situation we are in now.

Really?

How would the UK closing its borders in the Summer have helped the situation we find ourselves in now?

The virus was endemic in the population by then.

Now if you'd said January/February then that would have been a different matter.

If you're a lorry driver, do you:

a) Drive to the UK or

b) Refuse as you don't want to get stuck there for days/weeks/months

This is going to be chaos.

I'm not one for panic buying but now is the time to make sure you have all the medicines you need as a minimum.

Me and my friend had this exact discussion earlier, I've got no clue how a government with a majority of its size has fallen apart so rapidly, it wouldn't be convenient but I wouldn't be surprised if there was an election within the next 2 years

Completely off topic but this reminded me of last nights steak. Warning this pic is NSFV

Well, the next two or three months are crucial. If vaccines start bringing down the death rate substantially in the spring then I reckon people will just be so relieved that the worst is over that Johnson will be forgiven. But, I've been saying this for a while and I'm really starting to have doubts.

Also...I am a bit concerned about this mutation, or any future mutations, and how effective vaccines will be......

They fall apart because they aren’t equipped to govern. Every party has their life span, the Tories are seeing the end of theirs now. There is only so many times they can roll the dice with make believe leaders. Trust me everything you are seeing now is a result of a decade of their governance, by 2024 we will have a new party in government.

    • Just watched Annie Lennox at Wilderness Festival as part of her global feminist The Circle initiative. She curated the 2 hour slot with special guests including Jessie Ware and then did  a 1/2 hour slot singing her and Eurythmics hits at the end. Her voice is amazing still and I am convinced she would do an amazing set on Sunday afternoon. She even wore a jacket with a sparkling CND symbol on the back! It’s a sign!!

    • Is it one of those bollocks things where ones is a festival and the other would be a show lol
    • Hello,   I have no idea what the answer is to your question, but wish you well in your quest for information.
    • Yes, I was asking about comedy, and also it seems odd that after bringing it back last year, the Seaside Stage seems to have gone again. Probably why Massaoke (basically a big karaoke sing-along) is now on the Castle Stage. But on all three days?! Does all seem a little desperate this year, though hopefully I will be proved wrong. Still think the Mary Wallopers fiasco has probably put a lot of artists off performing at Victorious, hence the reduction in stages and acts appearing... One of the best things about Victorious in the early days was its value for money compared to some of the other bigger festivals, but this certainly not the case anymore...
