FINE I'll buy a Black Midi ticket, jeeez.

Hopefully they'll work out the bar situation in the pink room at YES by then, I keep going back expecting it to not be that busy, keep having to go upstairs for drinks.

It's fine now. Just be sensible and don't go when they're switching band.

It's not just Snailo's voice that makes her a ropey live proposition, it's the sudden realisation that each song sounds like the last.

That Boy Azooga Christmas show is cool. Like bands who get bigger but still do stuff like that for the hell of it. Think they'll stick around for the long haul.

Yeah, they’re doing a homecoming gig at O’Neils in Cardiff which is pretty cool. Unfortunately missed out on tickets. They really impressed me at Thekla a few weeks ago, they’ve some great energy live and come across as good lads

Any particular reason for that thought? I expect them to be there, but 2/3 times? Because they’re on Heavenly?

Between that and loving playing gigs/being big into the festival scene, yeah. Don't they seem to you like the sort of band that will be on JP/Park, Wills Green and Crow's Nest across the weekend?

Yep, absolutely, just wondered if you had any knowledge. Being on Heavenly makes them highly likely for Crow's Nest if they're anywhere on the bill (I reckon JP).

I hadn't realised quite how much they like the festival scene: https://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/bands.php?t=p&b=77103

the first hour was the new album, and last night at least it was completely underwhelming as a live thing.

That's disappointing to hear. In my experience (I've seen him twice), the audience really make or break the gig. Both occasions I've seen him, the crowd were well up for it with whoops when songs were recognised and eager to enjoy every moment. However, in both cases the material he was performing had been out for a while and there was a familiarity with it.

What I've heard of the new album doesn't contain the soaring heights of Glacier or the tragedy of QoD. It feels a bit John Grant by numbers - definitely has its moments, but lacks the depth. He'd still be a strong contender if he clashed, though.
