no, not really.

I just think it's highly likely that 'headlining' (if they are) would have been part of any gossip he heard about them playing, and it would have also been likely to be repeated too.

Remember, when he said it, he was saying it as something of interest to his listeners - and 'headlining' would certainly be of interest to them.

No, not really.

The 18 year olds listening to Radio 1 don’t give a fuck whether The Strokes are headlining or subbing.

It was interesting in that Emily interview with George Ezra how she told him that Kylie was playing prior to it being announced, I know it only sounded like a day or two but she's clearly not completely averse to telling people stuff. You can easily see how people like Grimshaw get to hear some pretty solid rumours.

Let's also not forget the production folks behind her shows are obviously ultra talented in what they do so to alter it so it fits in to the staging at the festival is part of the job!

I'm in agreement with this.  I haven't seen her Vegas show, but I'm certain it's nothing that couldn't be adapted fairly easily to the Glastonbury stage.  She is active, so its not like she has to rehearse a band / group of dancers etc out of nowhere.  In terms of motivation to do it, if she's planning a tour after the Vegas residency, what better advertisement than knocking it out of the park on the Pyramid Stage?  I'm convincing myself here.

yeah, because there's never a big deal about Glastonbury headliners, or large festival headliners in general.

Which is why you don't care if they're headlining or not.

:P

Yeah but I’m not a normal person, I’ve been on your website discussing this shit for 13 years.

The Strokes subbing Arctic Monkeys, that's my prediction. AM are about to go back out on tour until April, still cant see why it couldn't be them headlining.

Their website has them finishing touring in April.  Have they announced further dates?

It must be The Who. In the middle of a tour, free that weekend, playing Wembley Stadium the week after Glastonbury and would shift a load of late tickets if the put in a good performance on BBC. A 4 year gap is more than when Coldplay have headlined.

It won't be The Who. Having them back in 2015 was daft, having them yet again in 2019 would just be ridiculous.

The Strokes are the May's deal of headliners. The house of efests cannot agree who it is, but we agree it's not them, aside from a few useless lunatics who won't let the idea go.

I really don't get the Gaga thing.

Am I right in thinking the main reason for thinking it could be her is because it's likely Bradley Cooper will be playing The Park? If there's nothing else substantial then there's really as much (or as little) chance of it being her as it is any of the other unlikely suggestions. She just feels more realistic cause she's got a lot of support on these boards and keeps getting mentioned in hope rather then expection.

True but there's nothing substantial for any of the others in the frame either.

So until then we are all guessing/hoping.

I think there are a few little things that in isolation mean little but when added together - Cooper, the gap in her Vegas residency, her strange "am I allow to talk about that?" last festival, the cancelled tour from last year...

I really don’t want it to be strokes personally. But.

Could stormzy, cure, strokes fit the Micky Eavis comment of 2/3 never played [headlined] before? Or is that pinch of salt?

I agree, that could still be the likes of Madge, LDR, Gaga etc.

Just a thought!

do agree with Neil though, if radio one had info of a headliner, grimshaw would break his neck to make sure it was ‘headliner’ gossip, makes good radio I presume ?

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
