I don't know if I was too far away or too much to the side but James sounded dreadful to me as well. Massive shame as I love the band and I've heard they have a really good live reputation too, so maybe it was just a one-off / unlucky with the positioning.

In Gazza's defence, having to preface every single post with "I think.." or "It is my opinion that...." would grow old pretty soon.

James are a great live band . I enjoyed them as openers can't be easy doing that slot but if robbie williams opened I'd be anywhere bar there .

Another vote for James. I thoroughly enjoyed that set last year and I was not a particularly big fan going in. They seemed chuffed to be there, played some upbeat tunes and ended with a banger. Ace.

That bit is very true.

One thing I learned from watching James is that no matter how much you enjoy a band, if you're watching them with people who keep saying "this is shit" then you're likely to enjoy it a bit less.

Again, I look forward to going solo in June

Absolutely, it also meant I was checking the time throughout cause I knew I was going to have to shoot off before the end to catch Night Beats at the Park. I thought James did a good job given the circumstances.

I always go very hard on the Thursday night so Friday morning is always tough

I'm almost a bit disappointed when the Other Stage booms into life on Friday. It means that I should actually make an effort to go do something.

Worked for me. My plan was to get down to t'Other as James started. My timing was wildly off and I arrived just as James started. 

Excess new songs aside, I enjoyed them very much.

See I liked the new stuff.  Nothing But Love is a good one, and Surfer's Song sounded lovely on the day.  But then I had been listening to the album quite a bit beforehand.

Ah now, Blossoms.  So disappointing.  They were infinitely better at Pilton Party, so much better with a covered stage. Should have been in the JPT for me.

I had every intention of watching James last year. Found myself doing "Laughing Yoga" in the Healing Fields. Had the time of my life. Was a bit pissed and stoned. In spite of this, I cheered along when the instructor said "You don't need chemicals to enjoy Glastonbury!".

Couldn't go last year but watched James on't tele and thought they were great.
