Weather 2016

Am I the only one who doesn't mind if it's muddy as long as the weather is dry while we're actually there? I can cope with not sitting down as long as I'm not also getting soaked at the same time.

Plus if it rains too much my alcohol gets diluted.

I'm the other way around. R**n is fine with a good set of waterproofs, wellies and brolly etc. Mud makes it a real struggle to get anywhere on site and it's potentially hazardous regarding falls resulting in broken or twisted ankles etc, something that's happened to some people on these forums.

No, I am the same, but as much as I hate to admit it the emerging picture is that it's all taken a turn for @The Nal style gloom, 2 bands of heavier rain followed by light rain over the following days.  Sadly you cant argue with the satellite pics, what will be will be.

I think - note think - that's all mostly still due to arrive all throughout tonight and Monday.

What was due to have been over and done with by mid morning is gonna last the full day and well into the night.

And, yeah, it looks atrocious.  Probably gonna be heavy going underfoot for the first couple of days.

But forecast rain quantities are still nothing like what we the storm gave us on Friday.

yr.no now showing dry Thursday through Sunday,  with nothing much to speak of on the Wednesday.

You're not the only one. I'll happily deal with gunk underfoot if its nice overhead.

Hopefully tonight's weather is light and has little negative impact on the site - what worries me is that i) the ground is in a bad state and ii) it's weather!  So tonight there might be a bit of rain, or a lot, and then pretty much clear (for a few days at least)?  Earlier yesterday weren't we thinking we were in the clear, and before that we were thinking we were fucked, and before that it was all good.

Whatever happens tonight I don't believe for a second that it's going to be fully dry for any significant amount of time, the forecast will change and change again, and then we'll get something different.  I don't think we'll get 2007 (I dodged that one, but would have gone if I could!) as there seems to be no evidence for continual rain.  I don't think we'll get 2005, as that seemed to have happened last week albeit not quite all at once.  I am expecting 2011 though, there's bound to be just enough rain to keep mixing into the ground, and it'll be already wet when we arrive - just need to mentally prepare!

Having said all that, I'm off to make some more popcorn for another day of watching WEATHER!

BBC breakfast weather confirmed 24 hours of rain from this arvo, but with the bonus of humid air coming from the continent after (this will help dry the place)...but the snide was quick to make his point that this brings the risk of thunder.

Expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised if it turns out ok are my thoughts this morning.

I'd take this quite happily :), but in all honesty as long as I get pitched and sorted before any rain comes I will be chuffed

Oh my pic has gone, meh

I just showed the drone video of Glastonbury to my four year old daughter and she said  'hmm...it doesn't look too muddy'.

Obviously my husband and I have been talking too much about this thread and she has tuned into our worries!

She also predicts that it will rain next week though. So, she is currently grounded.

Surprisingly it looks like warm humid air from the continent will arrive through Wednesday/Thursday. I think somebody mentioned the BBC have already hinted at this but it does bring the risk of thunderstorms, particularly overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

Having said that there's still no complete agreement, which is very odd considering we are so close now. A few days ago Wednesday-Thursday looked dry and warm, now it looks warm/hot and stormy on the Thursday.

After this fresher weather arrives form the west, some models go for showery conditions others go for high pressure ridging in from the azores and good weather...

I wouldn't want to be a weather forecaster at the moment!

Rain AND mud together is the worst combination, it's just miserable.

But if it's really muddy, and the rain has stopped, it's still exhausting. Just the ability to sit down every now again makes all the difference.

think the best we can hope for now is for it to be muddy but for the rain to (moderately) hold off whilst we're there. it's obviously gonna rain at some point, but hopefully not too heavy, and hopefully not for too long, otherwise it's gonna make the entire weekend a slog

Realistic view of things.  Lot of rain in this last batch before the festival but the picture is improving for later in the week.

    • Nearly half owed to UK pension funds and banks, a third to foreign investors and the rest to the Bank of England.  We can say we won't pay the interest or the loans back but who would lend us 100 billion again next year? The Bank of England are selling their portion  at the moment which I read is making things worse so we should tell them to stop but I don't really understand why that is.
    • Gotta be worth a bump for old times sake
    • Let's hope you're right - having secret set by Olivia Rodrigo would be huge. It might even overshadow the Thursday trainwreck.   We'll see in a couple of hours.
    • Yet again we’re missing the WH Sunday reggae slot
    • Occident has got larger over the years and there's relatively little overlap with mbv and OR fans that I think it would work fine as it would divide the crowd so effectively.   They don't even need to give the biggest stage from an optics perspective either, this would be billed as a secret short set and used to promote her new album.
