The latest GFS looks like a significant downgrade to me :(With lot more rain on wed and thurs with chance of showers through weekend. Hope I've interpreted it incorrectly....

I was waiting for gavsweathervids at 7 before waiting to see the pendulum swing again!

Gotta love you Brits. Proper resolve. Sandals?

Always take sandals Wooderson. Only years I’ve not been able to wear them on at least one of the 3 main days were 97, 98 & 07 (thankfully didn’t start going until after 85!).

Use the met office app if you want an accurate forecast, updated regularly.

If correct we're screwed! It would basically mean a mud bath from the moment the gates open until it dries out Saturday evening/Sunday

Exactly - tweet from green fields says -  Site is wet and muddy in places where the traffic has been moving. But footpaths are dry and fields are green! #Glastonbury2016

Green fields are always the driest.

So what we can gather is it takes over 24 hours to dry out the rest of the site (since it stopped raining over 24 hours ago and is still muddy)  without significant heat and sun (I would say 48 hours) . If the rain is heavy Sunday and doesn't stop til Monday afternoon then we'll arrive on a muddy site.  (expect Road delays on the Tuesday if cars get stuck in the mud while parking).

Once gates open, if the weather is sunny and dry then the site should be dry by Friday. If it rains Wednesday and Thursday then it's a mud bath til late Saturday, early Sunday.

I wouldn't advise taking trolleys or luggage on wheels on the Wednesday as you'll just get stuck in the mud. Expect slow moving queues when gates open and the site to be behind schedule setting things up (SE corner will likely open slightly later than its supposed to, like it did a few years ago in similar conditions).

Weather over the next 48 hours is crucial!

Metcheck is awful. Has 13 degrees for Saturday haha

Thats a swing of 17 deg from yesterday.

Don't worry about temps,  they always underestimate them and it always seems warmer as you're walking round and dancing

That's because Metcheck is one of the worst forecasts sites beyond the next 24 hours there is. They even have one of the worst 'tomorrow' records there is and tend to always go for the worst possible scenario.

BBC, Met Office and Yr.no combined give the more accurate forecast.

The bbc & met office should correlate pretty well since the met office still provide the bbc with their forecast and data. All change in 2017 though.

They do mostly with their online data but the BBC often errs on the side of caution for their TV broadcasts.

It will be interesting to see how it all changes next year.

Indeed it will be interesting. Currently most of the bbc weather presenters are trained forecasters; met office trained.

A lot of the narrative read out on TV & radio is actually drafted by met office staff.

Have been following this thread hourly, the BBC weather seems to be no rain at all, apart from a drop or two on Thursday.....I am sticking with this one, the downpour they predicted yesterday for Monday appears to have moved to white cloud only......I am praying for similar to last year..... Perfect.... See you Wednesday Jamie

Where are you looking? BBC still has rain Sunday night/Monday morning for both Shepton Mallet and Pilton as far as I can tell

Sorry my bad, the rain is still showing for Monday a little bit and mixed with sun on Thursday, but the rest of the weather is looking cloud mixed with sun. Perfect for me.

This is good advice. Also, cardboard for the car parks is essential.

Pop it under wheels to enable grip and stop 'em spinning in mud. Cru-shall.

Ahhh, good stuff. Cardboard has gone on the packing list :)

    • Cool, if potentially completely exhausting, idea.
    • We don't have any choice but I don't need a t-shirt for it! 🙂    On the bright side, it gets it out of the way for a nice 5 year run... notwithstanding wars, new contagious diseases and apocalypse.
