It's not going to be that bad.  That was constant rain on waterlogged ground, this will just be waterlogged ground.  After the band of rain that's coming we have fairly clear skies.

Looking like rain throughout mate. Ground never given a chance. A damp slog. Chalk it down, '16 will put our endurance to the test.

Boots and waders cru, godspeed.

Rest o'you. Welly-up and get the beers in.

I wasn't at 2007... But correct me if I'm wrong, 2007 was a washout i.e. Pissing down all the time throughout the fest?

So constant rain and mud? At this stage (which is now very close to the fest so getting more and more accurate) most of the forecasts are suggesting not a lot of rain during the festival itself, so we may have thick mud which is a pain, but not too much rain, so surely that's far far more preferable than 2007 which was constant mud AND constant rain?

No it wasn't constant rain at all. Wednesday and Thursday were fine, it rained Fri and Sat mornings, clearing up early afternoon for decent evenings and nights and then Sunday was the washout day which, coupled with the ground being so bad, is why people have such vivid memories of it being atrociously bad.

Started in 2008 and only bad year I remember is 2011. I'm hoping this year isn't apocalyptic as I have lost my wellies and can't get new ones in time for the fest now... Walking boots and hope for me!

The site has had massive drainage improvement since the last biblical years (05/07) and while it got choppy in 2011 it wasn't insurmountable and people whinge about 2014 but that was a couple of torrential downpours and didn't chop up the site massively.

Liking the upward trajectory of forecasts.... NFR NFC!

2014 was slippery a fuck tho. Getting across pyramid after Jack White was ridiculous.

Oh crap yea, forgot about that, it actually that became dangerous. Girlfriend fell over just before Metallica not sure if she was more upset that it hurt, from the shock, or the fact she lost her chips!

I always forget about the rain during Robert Plant/Jack White, mostly because I was being bathed in the sounds of Robert Plant I suspect

It wasn't a big deal. The Mrs and I walked from the t&c where we'd been sitting out a storm to the pyramid for RP where it had turned to a drizzle. The ground was a bit sloshy but hiking boots were fine. We watched RP and JW on reasonably solid group halfway up pyramid field.

By the time Metallica came on we'd dried out and enjoyed that show. It was a bit chilly that night but my army jacket did just fine.

Ok i am going to change the topic of conversation as the forecasts are getting positive and there is already a thread about the state of the ground.

Yr.no, BBC, MetCheck, Netweather, weather.com all now reporting a dry Glastonbury (bar a few very light showers that are less than 1mm).

It is going to be a great one.

It rained sporadically  from mid Saturday afternoon till after Metallica finished,  yet I was still sat down eating my tea on the ground the next day.

In fairness, I'd be pretty pissed off if it didn't rain during a Metallica set.

In terms of the past couple of days,  no.

But in terms of the last few weeks / months,  I'm not sure.

And it's the latter that affects the water table.

Yep - that's what I was getting at in my last post as below. (Sorry for self linking )

Last week was a shocker, but before that late May & early June was not wet at all.  Wasn't it only a couple of weeks back they were complaining about the dust on site FFS?

I've just noticed this prediction on accuweather, I'd be happy to settle for this,

By Kristina Pydynowski, Senior Meteorologist

June 18, 2016; 1:15 AM ET

Despite a history of heavy rainfall and flooding problems at Glastonbury, a washout is not expected for next week's much-anticipated music festival.

The five-day event kicks off on Wednesday, 22 June, at Worthy Farm. More than 137,000 music fans are anticipated to see some of the world's top acts, according to the Met Office.

Festivalgoers will only have to bring wellies and brollies out of their tents on a couple of occasions.

"There is a risk of the odd shower or two on Wednesday, but overall it does not look like a washout day," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Jason Nicholls said.

"There looks like there could be a spell of rain or showers around on Thursday and/or Friday," Nicholls said, "but the weekend should be generally dry and nice."

Rain should not put a damper on the featured performances by Adele, Coldplay and Beck at the Pyramid Stage over the weekend.

In fact, festivalgoers may want to pack sun cream and wayfarers for the dry days of the festival as there will be sunny spells.

However, a repeat of the high temperatures that the Met Office reports caused heat exhaustion and sunstroke in 2010 is not expected. The temperature that year peaked near 27 C (81 F), according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Eric Leister.

Nicholls expects temperatures to be close to normal for the festival this year. Normal temperatures toward the end of June range from a high near 21 C (70 F) to a nighttime low around 11 C (52 F).

Jackets, jumpers or an extra blanket will be needed amid the rainy spells and at night.

Glastonbury has a history of heavy rain and flooding problems, but such issues have been largely absent since 2010.

"The exception was 2014 when around 50 mm (2 inches) of rain caused flooding, and lightning forced the festival to be shut down for a brief time," Leister said.

Amazing! Thanks for this :)

You're welcome! There are a couple of videos on there, and in my (albeit limited) opinion, it looks fine, even the roads with tonnes of trucks driving over them look ok.

And surely staff there will be monitoring the situation, won't they be actively working on diverting the water away, especially if there's more forecast? I can't see them simply awaiting the potential carnage come Wednesday!
