I listened to James Blake at midnight last night as I was dozing off, thought it was pretty dreamy in places, I enjoyed it on first listen - Always was a personal highlight

Gave Skepta a bash this morning, the track with Pharrell is tremendous, I enjoyed it though surprised he put Shutdown and That's Not Me in the record though

Death Grips shall be my pleasure on the way home from work

wow that James Blake thing is a surprise! will be downloading that first thing in the morning

also currently available as of today are Skepta - Konnichiwa, LUH - Spiritual Songs For Lovers To Sing and Tourist - U. good stuff

Have to recommend this. They told me they're not playing though ("I wish!").

Thought the Skepta album was really strong, gave it a listen at lunch, Lyrics is probably my favourite track, mainly because of the nostalgia the beginning has for me. I would file the Death grips album under 'difficult' but that is based on listening to a couple of tracks so may not representative of the album in general.

It was batted around for a while that Skepta was going to be on the pyramid, which I find massively unlikely regardless what he tweeted saying

I think his set could be a personal highlight, especially with a few guests joining, I'm really enjoying this new album

i don't think it's too outrageous that he could be on the Pyramid - he's an absolutely massive name right now and Konnichiwa will undoubtedly do very well. if not him then it looks like they've done away with the Friday hip-hop slot for this year at least

and yeah, the album is pretty great on first listen. too much new music to digest today!

It's more me willing it wrong than anything else FF, I just can't see it translating that well on the pyramid at all, needs to be a tent all packed in to really get the atmosphere going. Given BBK are on the main stage at R&L I best retract how I think it massively unlikely and change it to I hope it fucking doesn't happen

All the albums that people have mentioned today have delivered. Some great stuff. Only criticisms I can think of are That's Not Me and Shutdown don't really fit in, The Colour in Anything is about 20-30 minutes too long and Anohni's Obama is basically "Fuck You Bush".

Been out for a few weeks, but I have just got round to, and am loving Singing Saw by Kevin Morby (former bassist with Woods). It's just ace! I want to be listening to James Blake, but I stuck this on and now can't change it!

Ben

Yeah I really enjoyed Singing Saw as well, hadn't ever heard of him before but came across Dorothy on YouTube just before the album came out and thought it was fantastic, I'll need to give his other albums a go soon.

Can't be arsed to read the lot but St Paul and the broken bones album is very good . to be honest like all soul albums after the first 7 tracks it gets a bit dull but any of the tracks could be the first 7. (It makes sense to me at least).

Was listening to the James Blake album, broke it off having seen your post above, this Kevin Morvby album is delightful! Excellent work Ben! Another reason why these boards are so good!

Yep. Spectacular album. I think the Morbster might be holding my candle for AOTY right now.

Do you, or anyone, know what the lyrics beat is/where its from? It's definitely an old one but I don't know the full history.

Not sure to be honest, the bit at the start is taken from the Heartless v PAYG clash, but the beat itself I have no idea about
