:(  my finger isnt exactly on the pulse these days, hence my homework requirements

although there does appear enough vintage stuff on the menu this year to ensure ive got something to sing along to!

Yeah that's fair, I forget a lot of us on here are pretty keen with the new releases :P Let us know what you think, I loved it (and they were act in WG last year).

New Slowdive album being recorded (hope they get added...) and The Cure are playing new tunes in the US. All good stuff.

New Metronomy single out tonight, albums out 1st July. A bit surprised they haven't been announced for anywhere this summer to be honest.

Radio1 is like cheese graters on my ears. Always great to hear from Metronomy though. "Old Skool" is apt, sounds like a return to Nights Out era.

The new King Gizzard album is proper - Rock n Roll. No bullshit, bang "Have that".

Tight as you like, loads of energy. Their own sound.

Love it.

Put that on again today, absolutely blistering stuff. Radiohead are hard to beat but Gizzard are a fanstastic #2 this year. Album really captures the brilliance of their live show, and makes that Brixton date later this year all the more tempting...

Oh man that's great. Nights Out is one of my favourite albums of all time so I'm pretty stoked that we have a "sequel" coming this fucking summer! Timing is obviously for the album to hit shelves while it's sunny but for their festival slots and stuff it's a weird one; I was predicting big things off the back of an album coming out next year but when it's been out a year it may complicate things.

I do appreciate what I am about to say is treason, but.....

I have enjoyed Nonagon Infinity more at the moment than Radiohead. I know a moon shaped pool is the album ill keep going back to for years to come, but - for sheer enjoyment and excitement, Nonagon Infinity is fantastic.

As soon as the drums kick in - BANG! It is relentless. It sounds like a million things Ive heard before and completely fresh. Ive listened to it a lot already.

I actually agree with you.

A Moon Shaped Pool does feel like a grower though so will have to keep revisiting it. It's not that I dislike it, it's just Nonagon Infinity is bloody fantastic.

For anyone who hasn't seen them live that likes the album, make sure you do, they're amazing live.

This album is a good reflection of their live performances. I saw them at glastonbury and then gorilla in feb.

I have bought a ticket for Strange Waves at the Ritz in manchester. An "indoor festival" solely for the Gizz.

Yep I agree, right up until before the album came out I was very anti him playing the pyramid, I've sort of came round to it though

Just imagine the scenes if he throws in a little late night set somewhere

Hmmm... Just got to 'Ladies Hit Squad'. First duff track of the album. Like the cringey love scene in the middle of an action movie.

You're about to get to numbers though, which im a fan off

New Metronomy track is pretty great, unfortunately I've heard that they won't be touring as Joseph did most the album himself. I guess they could pop up somewhere this year but I highly doubt it.

He used to record most of the albums on his own and that didn't stop him touring, not sure why it's an issue now. Even the English Riviera was largely just him.

    • We head out in the morning. Couple of nights in New York then up to Boston. Enjoy the games lads and hopefully we get some great football to take our minds off the whole shitshow off the pitch.
    • White Stripes/QotSA at Harewood 2007, Tramlines (and Blue Dot, same weekend) in '23, and Elbow at Jodrell Bank '13.
    • Yeah exactly, the shock moments, group layouts, etc all end up playing out differently once you get into the tournament. However you tweak it, you don't predict shocks.
