Shangri-la seems too be getting a bit boring now, along with Unfair ground, Block 9 etc...Same lay out, same tents, same bars, stages etc.

Great for the newbie but after four years, it has lost its appeal for me now. Think I went once, got in a crush and bailed.

Lost Vagueness, Shangri-la......

I have to say that I wasn't impressed with Shangri-La that much and it was my first year. It was very overwhelming and just way too busy. I plan on having a headliner off next year to see it at less peak times but after two nights of seeing what all the fuss was about we decided to try elsewhere.

My best night was in Beat Hotel, maybe I'm just all about the plain stuff

yeah i'd even go as far as to say if you've been more than 2-3 times, it's actually a bit shit now. would love them to rip it up and start again.

Agreed. I remember how stunning the first two years were - it's never been that good again

I think it suffers from it's rep and expectations - would like to see them give half the dance the fuck off and go for something really different tbh

There's more to an evening's entertainment

Yeah it all seems a bit tired and dated now. In particular Shangri-La which was stupidly busy this year. Block 9 I think still has it, mainly due to as someone has mentioned above, the music has been spot on. I also think they need to improve the late night activities elsewhere as well. Perhaps run Arcadia till 4am or something, as it was uncomfortably busy and also noticeably busier than recent years at points this year.

Yeah must agree, still think Block 9 has got it cause of the quality of music, but Shangri-La is in need of a serious rejig

Personally I was less impressed with Block 9 than the rest of the areas this year and I think it's because it is more music based, whereas the rest of the areas, even Shangri-La with its slightly tired theme, appeal more to me because of their themes and their relative novelty.

I did like Shangri-La, but it is fast coming to the end of its life.

I've been wondering if a return to the random rave tents in the markets etc is a way forward - i genuinely think a lot are just there to get twatted and see madness. That you can spread all over the place

I haven't been the last 2 years, but I felt Shangri-La was poor enough in 2013, compared to the previous 2 years when it was incredible.

As others have pointed out, Block 9 delivers musically, and the lineups the last couple of years have been better than ever, I'll never get tired of the NYC Downlow anyway tbh.

Just didn't get the whoke political theme atall. Few posters and a couple of rooms that were too buzy too get into. Heaven and He'll just gets dangerously buzy, trying to get from one end to the other is terrible.

Shut it all down and put Arcadia back where it belongs, start earlier, finish later, drop the restrictions and have it 2010-11 style. Since it moved, it's nowhere near as good.

The Common is good I must say...

I would imagine a few people's noses would be put out of joint if Shangri-la was scrapped hence the move from Vagueness too Shangri-la, same people behind it isn't it?

I'm the opposite. I really enjoyed it in 2010, got bored for numerous years. But this year I felt it was back on form. I really thought i 'got' it this year.

It helped that we went in just before 12 on the Friday. Got in through Block 9, with no queues.

Rum Shack had some great acts on. The Temple seemed back on form, great party atmosphere. The small venues in Shangri La were great. Each one felt different.

Really enjoyed Jag'z in the unfairground playing Northern soul.

Rocket Lounge and Deluxe dinner felt a bit out of place in the SE corner. I enjoy it in there, but I always think The Park would be better suited to them.

By 2am it was rammed and got a little bit more difficult to get round especially by Hell. Hell always seemed busier than Heaven, I don't think they got the balance right.

Heaven & Hell needs a complete rethink. The Common & Block 9 is still cool, but think Shangri La could do better starting from scratch. Feels the same as 2013 which was my first one, and reading above then the same as 2011 as well.

Amazing, but make it more amazing.

thing is, those tents were never really official, and Glastonbury is a very different beast these days - i just don't think they'd get permission to make late night noise in that area otherwise they'd probably be doing it.

plus i was watching some footage of the market raves recently - they would have to be brought up to date cos with 20 years passed they looked a bit crap - nostalgia is a powerful thing.  and you'd be fucked if it rained down there!

Thought the Common looked incredible this year, was really impressed how it all came together. Only went in the Rum shack on thursday, Slaves at Hell on Friday and an aborted attempt at Craig Charles on Sunday. Couldn't be arsed exploring it this year, just went straight in to where i wanted to go.

To be honest I think next year I'm going to explore other areas at night a bit more, getting a bit too old for 6am SE corner finishes.

unfortunately i did exactly what i said i wasn't gonna do this year and didn't really stay in any one place for longer than ten minutes. largely due to the people i went with as it was their first time and they wanted to explore, but also down to the fact that anything i wanted to see was just ridiculously rammed. if anything needs to be done it's to make the place bigger and add more large venues, or add an alternative late night area elsewhere on site to spread the crowds a bit, because half of the site pouring from the headliners in to this small corner just isn't good

Didn't go to SE Corner once at night, just didn't fancy the crushes one bit. There are usually too many people in too small an area for it to be enjoyable after dark. Tended to head to the Park for my after hours fun, and one night dancing on a bench outside Chameleon to old indie tunes.

Pretty much the same people excepy for Roy who started LV. He is no longer involved. SL headed by Debs who used to be Roy's main man,

Don't see any problems with Block 9 or The Common. Both still deliver sufficiently I feel.

In agreement about Shangri-Heaven-Hell. A proper shake up would be great. Something tells me though we've got the current layout (despite variations on a theme) until the fallow when they can seriously think about implementing big changes. Could be wrong though.

I used to like having my late night Sunday night/Monday morning wander around the SE Corner. I didn't enjoy it this year though. I missed the roofed lanes they used to have, it was crazy busy and I just found the whole place to be one massive nightclub with seperate rooms. Loads of people seemed to be having a good time in them but for me, the whole place seems to have lost its uniquiness. Not sure I'll bother going there again.

For lots of people I know, they pretty much forego the acts on during the day and it's all about Shangri-La for them. It's become more popular each year and as a result has become far too busy, even with the relocation of Arcadia. The bottleneck at the Hell Stage for the Radio One essential mix was borderline dangerous. And we found each of the areas a little 'samey' but it's still the place to be after dark.

Along with Silver Hayes, Shangri-La needs a total overhaul in my opinion

They could always revamp and expand Silver Hayes to turn it into a viable late night alternative to SE Corner.

Or kill many birds with one stone - Cut the capaicty and take an area previously reserved for camping and create something. Feweer people plus an extra area would certainly mean less crowds.
