What's next for S.E corner?

So true Homer. I can't believe the amount of effort that goes into this festival every year. I've got to grab some first timers around the throat if need be and give them the tour.

I wish I could get temporary amnesia on the Tuesday

(do I need to write this in these brackets? I'm just kidding :) )

For me personally, I have been going for years but I've kind if developed the experience a bit back in 2008/2009/2010 I kind of treated the circus fields and south east corners as tourist attractions, if you get what I mean.

This year was one of the first years where I actually got stuck in with everything going on and it was brilliant and I really felt like I was a part of some massive party and everyone is invited.

I don't know if it was just me getting older and more boring, but I hated the S E corner this year.

For me, it was too busy and music from main area to main area seemed to be playing off the same playlist. I love my techno and house and not afraid of a bit of DnB but there was no real moment of wow.

I'm sure if it was just me with some mates I wouldn't have been as bad, but on the Heaven and Hell stage i had to keep one eye on the missus to make sure she wasn't carried off in the crowd trying to move between stages.

I was also getting so fucking tired by the time we got there i was generally just grumpy which i'm sure didn't help.

Next time i go which, which won't be until 2018/19, I'd love to see some areas with a higher capacity to help keep the flow of people moving around the smaller sections lower.

First year I didn't go in the SE corner once.

Wednesday - opening ceremony at stone circles

Thursday - wheel of fourtunes and a wander after

Friday - sat after Florence just chatting with the wife, great night

Saturday - bar crawl with my brothers group, was in the spike for ages, watched the sunrise at the stone circles

Sunday - Arcadia and the glade

Brilliant times

I think that the SE Corner is becoming a bit of a chore to do, especially to the SE veterans. It seems like it just doesn't deliver new options that make it worthwhile for people returning, and needs greater effort year after year.

And this is coming from a person who notoriously used to rave over the existence of it.

It needs a big re-shuffle and almost an expansion, it just seems like a cluttered bedroom, which with a tidy up and rethink could be absolutely epic again!

this was my first year and i thought Block9 was good, mainly because there was a few DJs there that i liked (Robert Hood, Four Tet).

The Common was good.

Glasto Latino was ok.

Unfairgound was ok.

Shangri-La was interesting but way too packed to be enjoyable.

overall, it was fairly average.

next year i'll hopefully get there early in the evening and check out the little things in Shangri-La a bit more before the night-time rush. fuck trying to catch any acts there past midnight.

Thursday - wheel of fourtunes

Caught that this year to! Was actually heading to the SE corner, but then then they was a crowd at the stage and I thought fuck it, spent a couple of hours watching the various acts  Glorious, all the space you could need, and was entertained completely! But yes Wheel of Fourtunes was one of the best acts, just a lot of silly fun :)

Didn't make it much into the actual corner, but thought Shangri-La was pretty decent when i visited (just again half the time cba with the crowds and I don't think its good enough to brave them)

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
