The sound in the Sonic is generally shit, but I also think it depends in what music is playing. Simple/bassy music tends to be ok, it was passable for Richie Hawtin and I was just outside the tent, but if you're wanting to listen to anything more complex you're fucked. Saw Gold Panda in there one year and all I could really hear was the bass.

ooh i've been away a couple of days so thought people were just pointlessly slagging off the Silver Hayes area - had no idea we were due an announcement. i agree that the area can be a bit shit, but always a few decent acts there so this is exciting

always thought the atmosphere was horrible, also got caught in a bottleneck there that was genuinely scary

A full stop. As in fool stop? As in Fool! Stop! As in fool, stop what you're doing right now, an announcement is imminent?

Could it be?

He's been doing this for a while. Just posting a full stop and nothing else. I can't figure it out.

Not to be pedantic but it wasn't a bank holiday in the USA was it?

I give credence to the bank holiday thing. I work in the media and it is a crap day to announce anything.

Memorial day weekend happens to fall the same weekend as whitsun, so actually, yes it was.

I went to see Hypnotic Brass Ensemble last time I went in 13, sonic stage, they never turned up (at least within 20 minutes of their set time) so I sacked it off.

I also went for the EDL (English Disco Lovers) night in I think it was Pussy Parlure but that was shit so I sacked that off.

So yeah, Silver Hayes hasn't really done it for me either

They did turn up and they were brilliant but it was bloody late. I really don't like the atmosphere round there so it was grim waiting for them. I didn't mind it in my first couple of years - 2008 and 2009 - but not sure if it's me or it that's changed.

Lol, I'm glad you clarified what you meant by EDL. Tommy Robinson subs Hitler on the other stage...

People do it to get to the last page when they're on the mobile site, rather than changing the URL to get them to the right page.

Shame. I thought I'd stumbled across some kind of numbers station style mystery :P

The Blues & The Gully have been two of the best recent additions to the festival for me. Great places to start the day, and they rarely get mega-swamped so they act as good places to meet up with friends.

The bar at The Blues also sells very strong rum based cocktails.

    • Jack White a shout for next year? New album out soon.
    • Steven Wilson Jr touring would be a good fit.   Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem) as he’s touring too next year.   Royston Club. Kingfshr. Bleachers. Spacey Jane. Gang Of Youths. Overpass
    • 90,000 on a single for day or over the weekend?   if it was for the whole weekend that’s disastrous   Given camping didn’t sell out unless they in effect transferred a lot of camping captivity to Chappell Roan day tickets 90,000 is absolute capacity there I think, so it would be hard to believe   i think it’s from the year before but the TPD tv footage when the killers are headlining makes it look like it’s at best half full
    • A part of me thinks weirdly they might hold off on Chaka/Robbie until they have a year where nobody else who fits the bill is available. This slot takes a very specific set of criteria, and I can't imagine they're flushed with options who are on tour and would take the smaller payday every year. Both Chaka and Robbie have expressed interest in doing it, so they're bankers for a year where fewer options are available. Which may well be 2027.
