This years' haphazard releases are more than frustrating. We're still waiting on loads of names, with a month to go. I can't believe any area is struggling at this late stage, apart from the odd cancellation or timing juggling act. If they were, it'd lead me to ask what they've been doing for the last 6 months!

Looks like it's a deliberate policy to drop feed it out a stage at a time. Each area's got its own poster design.

I expect they've just been kicking back for 6 months hoping that someone else is organising the biggest music festival in the WORLD.

I don't mind the drip feed of announcements.

I think it's better.

When each area gets its own announcement, it gives everyone a chance to discuss who is playing on those smaller stages and give each other advice on what is worth seeing.

This would be lost with a full announcement, when the majority would be discussing the main stages.

And these areas deserve their own spotlight as well given the work put in getting the whole thing together.

Plus it gives the acts a bit more exposure.

I got some good advice on the Avalon lineup that I probably wouldn't have benefited form in previous years.

And this way, it gives more time to check out unknown acts on Spotify, You Tube etc.

I reckon a bit can be read into him saying it "will be announced by Glastonbury festival" as meaning it will be part of the main lineup announcement?

Not really necessary to do that I guess because the lineup will almost definitely be out next week anyway. Running out of time now.

I like the drip feeding but it'd be nicer as a consistent one. Eg. some point mid-May they announce there will be "two weeks of announcements" and they bring out an area a day at a certain time, then a week or so after the final one we get the stage splits and times.

Yes, I agree with this. Just a period of 2-3 weeks in which areas are free to announce before the main drop. There's no need to keep everything so secretive, and by saying 'second half of May' or whatever, they're allowing for flexibility. I love seeing the smaller announcements and the freedom they're given to design and announce in their own way, but I'm not enamoured by the secrecy of it all - what's the point?

Sziget isn't even half the size of Glasto.

I've been, and while it's a good weekend, it doesn't come close in scale, lineup or variety of stuff on offer.

Glasto is on a completely different level

Out of curiosity, what have you been to you've enjoyed as much or we'll say enjoyed as there's nothing really like it.
