If someone new comes everyday and tells us that the announcement is that day, eventually one of them will be right and lauded for it. Then it'll hurt all the more next year when they troll again.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but I'm in the 1st June club now, almost entirely on the basis of what Glade tweeted.

Glade said next week, so would be 'end of May', which is what Shargri-La and Arcadia have said. Looks like some time next week for me, and probably all together.

Nah It won't be Monday. The fact it was announced the day before R1 Big Weekend last year makes me think they wont do the same twice so wont be tonight. And Radio 1 will be bigging up their 'amazing weekend' Tuesday and Wednesday - so I see Thursday 28th as the most likely day for a full announcement now

I do wonder where people get their logic from on stuff like this.

I doubt they consider what other people are doing too much, or some kind of pattern would have emerged by now. They just do it whenever. Probably just when it's ready, which could be any time.

Like I said it is just a thought. Personally I don't believe 'they just do it whenever' - I think there has to be an element of thought behind it from a publicity point of view - Admittedly I don't think they analyse it to the lengths that we do here but I would assume if they had it ready, for example on Monday, someone would pipe up and say its probably best to wait a day as it is a bank holiday.

From memory in previous years they strictly kill off all Big Weekend chat after the Tuesday but I may have misremembered that.

Possibly, I'm sure they wouldn't release at midnight on a Wednesday either, there is obviously a bit of thought around the timing. I don't think much though, does it really matter if it's a bank holiday?

You must be kidding. They ramble on about it for weeks, endlessly playing a handful of highlights and saying what a great time everybody had.

But regardless of that, I hardly think they sit in their office at Pilton and say "ooh, we'd better not announce the line-up for our sold out festival today, because Radio 1 are talking about something else..."

It would be like announcing it on a Sunday. People are generally away from media outlets more doing other things and less people are working in those media outlets in the first place

      90,000 on a single for day or over the weekend?   if it was for the whole weekend that’s disastrous   Given camping didn’t sell out unless they in effect transferred a lot of camping captivity to Chappell Roan day tickets 90,000 is absolute capacity there I think, so it would be hard to believe   i think it’s from the year before but the TPD tv footage when the killers are headlining makes it look like it’s at best half full

      A part of me thinks weirdly they might hold off on Chaka/Robbie until they have a year where nobody else who fits the bill is available. This slot takes a very specific set of criteria, and I can't imagine they're flushed with options who are on tour and would take the smaller payday every year. Both Chaka and Robbie have expressed interest in doing it, so they're bankers for a year where fewer options are available. Which may well be 2027.
