Neither should we get into that! Techno is a broad church, and all the better for it*

*but tech house is tech house 😉

Haha I specifically didn’t chuck in Craig Richards or Topping!

I've seen lots of techno DJs at Glastonbury (Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Marcel Dettmann, Jerome Hill, Kevin Saunderson, Dave Clarke, DJ Pierre and more).

I worded my message poorly and it was meant in response to the possibility of 'world music' at the revamped Beat Hotel. I was wondering whether they might take that space in a different direction and book a load of techno peeps in there, but I'm probably way off the mark there.

As has rightly been pointed out, the techno will probably reside in the SE Corner.

I hoped to see a couple of names in Silver Hayes though, given I saw Richie Hawtin there a few years back.

Do love a bit of Hawtin. Saw him at Club Paradiso on Mykonos (clang) a few years ago. Stellar.

His Plastikman set at Glastonbury (98?) is up there as one of the best sets I have ever seen

Gotta say I’d be into a head the ball mini UFO stage like at Dekmantel playing nosebleed techno all weekend. Probably only go about 4 hours over the entire weekend but it’d be nice to have a total change of pace mid day if the mood took me.

It's like entering another realm of evolution going into that darkness whilst it's broad daylight outside. Lights flying everywhere

What a place

Suppose I’m a little surprised to not see Bradley Zero - think he’ll be elsewhere @bennyhana22?

Maybe playing whatever replaces the BH?

He nabbed my set of the year award last year,  SO FUCKING GOOD. Although I suppose there weren't hundreds of candidates considering clubs were closed until July 😅

As said, out of upvotes, but YES! The live on IICON dream is still on.

Ben

I thought dance acts mostly just did 1 live set, then loads of dj sets extra if they decide to?

We can maybe expect Prospa Live on IICON then ??

edit: obviously massively wishful thinking but I kinda expected them to be on Silver Hayes and don’t know where else they’d be this year, would be a shame if they aren’t there at all

That would be a big stylistic departure from IICON - I’d have thought if they’re going that way a DJ set from Overmono would be more likely.

I’d be really surprised if Prospa aren’t there though - maybe on a non-dance stage? Where ever Fred Again hopefully is playing?

Their live set is one I'm really interested in, mainly cause of the guitar. I know they both spent years in bands as teenagers so it's quite intriguing to see how much they bring that side in (maybe just for the little 80s style solo in one of their tunes)

    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
